Just fit an isolation valve on the pipework and all your problems are solved.

Depends what your budget is but a direct unvented cylinder would be my choice as it will provide plenty of hot water, but you will req a qualified person to install it.

Suspect he means gas pipes, and this is perfectly acceptable to put outside. If your gas pipe freezes dont worry about it,you will have been dead long before you noticed.It freezes at -296.7 degrees f

Any of yu lot fitted an Ethos combi, our merchant is pushing them and the figures certainly sound good for hot water etc,not cheap but if i get some good feedback i may try one.

Merlyn are also good quality, i have one and i have fitted a few others,and easy to adjust or remove doors for cleaning etc. Mine is a quad but i have fitted a 1200 Merlyn slider ,with the curved front, very nice it was.
