mildew on the wall of a new house

Many thanks for the replies. I've been round today to have a look for myself. They have the trickle vents open on the window but I doubt they do much. I reckon they definitely need more ventilation, open windows, but they are right on the pavement so I guess there is a security issue there...

mildew on the wall of a new house

I dont think there are any pipes in that area but I will check. The walls are dry-lined so surely a leak would show as a damp patch first :?

Thanks for the reply. I never expected bitumen paint. The down pipe is only about 20 years old at a guess. That explaines why the previous 2 colours were flaking off in big lumps!

    cure for damp walls

Thanks for the reply Spannerzone. Basically I've done much the same research as you and come up with the same conclusions. The problem wall is solid and inside the house so the obvious cavity causes can be ruled out. I fear the problem has been made worse by a concrete floor with membrane thats...

    changing the colour of pointing

Thanks for that info Mr Helpful. The pointing was done with white cement and this orange sand so I dont know if these dyes would actually make it any lighter. I'll give the kahki one a go unless anyone else has any better ideas? Cheers
