This a large 4 bed house built in the 1950s basically oblong floor plan with a hipped roof. There is a 1/2inch vertical crack from the wall plate to first floor level in one wall. upstairs some of the internal block walls are cracked right through from the top to about 5 feet from floor. All the ceilings have big cracks across them. It looks like a film set from an earthquake film. On the ground floor everything is normal with no sign of any movement. Is this damage due to the roof flexing and spreading, its a huge roof space. Can anyone advise please? thanks

Who can say? You need an engineer/surveyor on site.

Many thanks for the answers. I followed the advice and got an engineer in on site. The cracking is from ground movement from a couple of huge trees front and back.
