    Earth Tape? Any ideas?

I've got the gear, just didn't have it with me. I'm more interested in whether anyone has seen a means of earthing like this before. I'll test it when I go back and take a pic, I know how much you all like them

    Earth Tape? Any ideas?

Evening all, I was at my sister's at the w/end and was looking at her earthing arrangement with a view to doing some minor work, and came across what looked like a TN-S system (the age of the installation, type of supply cable etc would back this up). On closer inspection I couldn't find an...

    Part P farce...

I can see that it was probably implemented by well meaning people initially, but to me it just seems another way of fleecing Joe Public. I'm still notifying when I have to and adding it onto my charges, but after a while I'll have to bite the bullet and pay a scheme 400 odd pounds a year for the...

    Garage again....

Thanks Spark123, I'd considered that, just wanted to bounce it off some other people first, I'm still finding my feet and there's always something that you've never done before, no matter who you are! i wanted to clear up the earth problem before I did the calcs, so will see how it pans out...

    Garage again....

OK, I'm opening myself up to all sorts of ridicule now, but I would assume that a metal shed would need bonding (although there's no earthy pipework) and that this would need a reliable connection back to the intake MET. So would bonding 10mm to the earth bar in the garage CCU, and then back via...

    Garage again....

It's only the last bit which needs trenching, the rest is a concrete path which he obligingly left a a gap down the side of for the cable, talk about doing things in the wrong order! I know the size of the cable depends on the load, what I was asking was did anybody know the smallest CSA of...

    Garage again....

Hi all, I'm doing some work at a mate's, he wants power to his metal framed garage which is about 20m from the house and then on to the shed, about another 10m from that. NOW...he's on a PME system, I know the requirements for the earthing conductor state that it should be 16mm, what I need...

    URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried unplugging the microwave? Are you SURE the fuse wire is not broken? Not trying to undermine you, I'm just not sure if you're looking in the right place. Are the rest of the circuits in the house OK?

Have you got old style rewireable fuses (bit of wire in the middle which you replace yourself) or circuit breakers (trip switches)?

    Electrical Engineering Courses....

I did the old C&G 236 Pts 1 & 2, it took 3 years once a week. I think each year cost about 2-300 quid, then 16th edition took 10wks (another £100). Got some work as a mate with an electrical firm on and off during this time, what you will learn from practical experience is probably just as...
