    Carpet on stairs question

Hi everyone, I hope this is ok in this section - it's not about stair structures, or about decorating necessarily. I have attached two images of some stairs in my house: ... I had a lady come out to measure for new carpet yesterday. She said it was really odd how the corners are...

Massive crack in wall above window frame

It's a 1970s property I think and I'm not sure what windows were in place before, all houses on the road have white PVC ones now. Sorry, didn't mean council, I meant the company that own the freehold. The wall warps inwards. So if I laid a piece of wood across, the wall in the middle...

Massive crack in wall above window frame

I have a town house style property. The easiest way to describe it is - it's a 2 floored maisonette with a flat underneath. In the living room - one floor up from ground level there is a crack above the window. This is the external type wall so I'm a bit worried about what it is. I own the...

Blocked Kitchen Sink (probably a basic question)

Below is a picture of the plumbing area of my kitchen sink. It's always been a little slow to drain but now it's entirely blocked up. The area marked in red which I think is the waste bit, I can unscrew. When that happens all the water gushes out and the sink clears. If I run the water...

Replacing a System Boiler - advice

My current system boiler - A WarmWorld HE40 - is in extremely poor condition and I don't think it's got long left. A boiler service man came to repair a leak and service. He was totally blown away by the condition inside, as it's just rust everywhere, and the heat exchange looks almost...

How much to angle grind cast iron waste and fit toilet?

I'm talking about the pipe just to the left. It goes into the wall. I want the toilet removed but the pipe is solidly sealed on to the toilet and according to plumber, it needs an angle grinder to cut the pipe.

How much to angle grind cast iron waste and fit toilet?

New Boiler needed - some basic questions ...

Arghhhh, all these points are very valuable, however still struggling to decide! haha. The main points for me is: 1) cost 2) performance - so I want a good flow rate for a new shower when the bathroom is changed. As it's only me + gf, don't need to worry about others using the water...

New Boiler needed - some basic questions ...

My boiler desperately needs replacing. I have a standard set up (loft tank, cylinder, and boiler in kitchen). Some basic questions: 1) I think I want the same set up, to avoid the costs of changing it all and I've also heard that this can sometimes be the best way... If you think I...

Electric shower - producing only cold water

I've reserved a new electric shower, only costs £55 (reduced from £69). It's the Triton Amber 3 shower, so the latest version of the one I have now. Different size, but hopefully should be able to be plummed in without any major issues.

Electric shower - producing only cold water

I found the manual for my Triton Amber 1 shower: http://www.showerspares.com/downloads/triton_amber_1_amber_1.pdf I seen the trouble shooting area, nothing really jumps out at me. I will probably call a plumber... just to be on the safe side.

Electric shower - producing only cold water

I think it is pretty old. I looked up a new Triton Amber shower and it's about £60. How easy is it for a novice like me to swap them over? Or would you recommend just getting a plumber out?
