No problem rf lighting.
Finding it quite interesting as the thermal cameras look interesting. If I could afford / warrent getting one I would. Seems very useful.
I think from what people are saying I will get the cheap one. It will probably do everything I'm going to use it for.
One other use I thought of is using it to find drafts around windows. Again doesnt have to be accurate though.
Thanks guys.
Thanks, I will be using it for radiators, but also for anything else I find it handy for. I work on cars quite a bit so it could become useful here too.
Maybe I just get the £10 one and see how i get on. :?:
Thanks, I haven't ordered one yet, and now as you say it has gone up in price. :(
Snooze and lose I guess. :)
I'll have another hunt around.
Nice to know it works though. How accurate do you think it is?
For the crack, which looks like it is a door frame, I would scrape that area gently with a small scraper to remove anything which is loose.
It doesn't look to deep so you should be able to get away with decorators caulk to fill the join between the frame and the wall.
I would rub down the...
Hi Guys,
Looking for a cheap-ish IR thermometer. Mainly going to be used for balancing rads, but I also work on cars as a hobby so will probably use it for other things too.
I have found three, but not sure which would be the best...
Thanks. Mine isn't a sealed system but doesn't seem to get much air anyway. I probably bleed the rads about 3 times a year. Not much comes out. I'll use the cheap stuff and put a bottle in every year or so. Can't hurt can it?
Strangely I have used Unibond and not had a problem with it. But did have a problem with the non-nonsense screwfix stuff.
Unless of course unibond have changed what they put in the stuff recently.
Thanks Guys,
I think I will fit one, worst case I will turn it right up.
I'm trying to do everything while it is drained down as I have a few old lockshield valves which have seen better days plus an occasional sticky 3 port valve.
While I am at it I will remove the rads downstairs and...
Thanks guys. Luckily no wife so that makes things simpler. :D
The downstairs always seems to be hotter than upstairs anyway. So my thinking is if I fit one it might even things up a bit.
But wasn't sure if thats the right way to do things as the rooms are connected.
Hi all,
I'm currently looking at installing TRV's on my rads.
I just want to check that I'm doing things correctly.
I am planing to fit TRV's to all bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. However I cannot decide on downstairs.
I have an open plan lounge / diner, the stairs are in the lounge...
My issue is that these straps are normally hooked over the brick when the wall is built.
Obviously i cannot do this and so want a good fixing into the airrated block. Any help appreciated.
Hi all,
I will be fixing retaing (bat) straps in the loft as recommended by a structual engineer when I bought the house to add extra bracing to the gable wall and wooden roof truss.
However, I was unsure what fixing to use in the airated block. I did not want to use normal plugs incase this...
I have another question, which is better eaves trays or felt when doing this?
As I understand it, either you use the trays or felt, not both. and the end of the eaves tray goes in to the gutter. Is that correct?
At the moment the felt doesn't go in to the gutter, so just wondered.
Also the...
Thanks guys,
I had never heard of people taking the old wood off, replacing with new and then UPVC over the top. When I have seen it done on other houses it has been remove old and replace with UPVC.
I guess the wood is stronger, although they are only going to put it along behind the facia...
