    Bricking up a fireplace

I'm plastering now and unless it's really bad he won't say anything, it's pretty much "all in a days work" in older houses anyway. The walls are never true. He will probably prefer to board it if it is a bit dodgy. If you are talking about a gas pipe coming through the centre of the breast for...

Can you plaster/skim directly to steel?

Never done steel either but, I think Mattylad might be onto something there. If you can't find the product you could always throw a couple of handfuls of sand into your PVA. Thats what we plasterers have always done! Let me know if you find any of that beaded stuff, sounds great!

    Bricking up a fireplace

I'm guessing you are going to replaster it when finished so this is what I did in my first house that had 4 fireplaces to brick up. I did the first one with bricks and got a good enough finish for it to not look pregnant when plastered. Doing it was a pain though cos I'm not a brickie. The next...

    Repressurise Worcester 24i Junior

I have a 24i Junior, but depending on age thay vary but I will tell you how I pressure my system. Under the boiler at the front there is a plastic panel that is just clipped into place. Take this off and the key for the filling loop should be clipped onto it. Look under the boiler on the...

    How Good is DryZone?

I didn't replaster cos I had the walls back to the brick and there was no evidence of damp. I didn't re-do it cos I thought it would be OK cos it's only been damp for a number of weeks as opposed to a number of years. Am I wrong?

    The best James Bond ever.

I am a Bond fan of many years. Not an expert but a fan of the films. The whole thing about the anticipation of the new film coming out and getting teased by the trailers and stuff. Once it's done though, that's pretty much it for me. I'm then waiting for the next one. I've seen them all and...

    Broken Stair Tread

I have had my stairs bare for over a year now due to other work going on (slowly) in the rest of the house. Two of the treads (I think that is what they're called) have split where they overhang the riser. Can I replace these or will I just have to make do with a damaged staircase?

    leaky radiator

Sounds like the fitting needs replacing, not the rad.

Worcester Bosch 24i Junior pump replacement

How do I do that. There are instructions in the manual but they are in the middle of a load of other instructions and it does not indicate wether it is a part of the whole process described or if it can be done independently.

Worcester Bosch 24i Junior pump replacement

I've just got a new pump for my boiler. Grundfos 15/60. All the advice that I have had has led me to believe that I just need to replace the "HEAD" of the pump. Is this just a case of removing the old ond and fitting the new one then switching it back on and "HEY PRESTO" or is there more to it...

    How Good is DryZone?

Well, I did the job myself. I bought 5 tubes of DryZone and the the DryZone gun. I spoke to the DZ technical helpline for tips and advice. I have to say that thay were more than helpful. I applied the silicone as recommended and also injected some extra just to be on the safe side (DZ advised me...

    worcester 24iJunior help needed please

I just typed ebm-papst into google and they have a website and the part you refer to is listed on there. You can't buy it online but there is contact info on the site and you could maybe get in touch with them and arrange something. It's a long shot though cos the site doesn't look as though it...

    worcester 24iJunior help needed please

I've had a mooch around and I think you have been quoted a realistic price, which surprises me greatly! I have a 24i Junior but my part number is different to yours thankfully, cos my fan would cost about quarter of the price. After looking at the part I'm guessing yours is newer than mine and...

    worcester 24iJunior help needed please

Simond, I buy all sorts of stuff on e-bay. If you know your stuff it's a real gem, then again if you don't it's a bit dodgy. You would be well advised to give it a miss!

    worcester 24iJunior help needed please

Sorry, I think I caused the whole fan/pump confusion thing by harping on about my pump. Can you post the make and model number of your fan and I will have a look around for you while I'm looking at the pumps. Post the board details too if you like and I will find one of those.
