    Leak or condensation

We had our bathroom renovated in the summer and a new suite and shower installed. We also installed an extractor fan. The walls are half-tiled and the untiled area of the walls and ceiling are painted in bathroom paint. We were thrilled with it all but... I have noticed condensation forming...

    Measuring water pressure

I wanted to buy some taps for a new bath which require minimum 0.5 bar but the suppliers said that you can expect to get 0.1 bar for each 3ft vertical drop from the tank. As my tank is perhaps at most 9 ft above, that would suggest 0.3 bar. Is this a reliable method for calculating pressure? And...

    Advice on taps

Thanks for replies. I suppose I'm just worried that I have absolutely no idea what constitutes a 'quality' tap and what would be deemed 'cheap and nasty'. They all look fine to me!

    Advice on taps

We are kitting out a new bathroom. The cost of a bath/shower mixer and basin mixer have come as a bit of a shock - racking up total cost of £300-£400 in some cases. On the other hand, I have come across others (Octavia Primaflow and Niagara Pixel) which are about £120 total (i.e. basin plus...

Thanks for further input folks. Never thought of the bubble-bath issue! But fair point.

    Bath / taps dilemma

OK, thanks for the tips. If we go that route I will suggest flexys when fitted. We did contemplate mounting taps on accessible side but we want to use a mixer and mount showerhead at head height. Also any thoughts of the implications of corner-mounted taps - i.e. why water falling against the...

    Bath / taps dilemma

My wife fancies a double ended bath :D . The vast majority of these seem to, understandably, require that taps are placed in the centre of one side of the bath. However... a) A couple of "experts" have advised against placing taps in this position because it is a nightmare for maintenance...

    Ponding on flat roof

Things are looking up! Thanks. There is currently no chipping on the roof - what purpose does it serve? Is there any danger that the weight of the additional bitumen could cause a problem itself?

    Ponding on flat roof

Thank you both for the input. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting the builder or checking out the condition of his spurs & stetson as we inherited the extension when we bought the house. There is no sign of water inside - yet. It would not be practical to put on a pitched roof as our lounge...

    Ponding on flat roof

We have been in our house for 3 years. We can walk out from one room on to the flat roof of an extension (though we seldom do as we are not sure about weight bearing ability). When it rains, a pool of water forms - this pool has been getting bigger and bigger as time passes and I am concerned...
