Thermistor problem...... cuts them out and makes them stand still, check with meter on 20k scale resistance, if its open circuit on either heating or hot water thermistor nothing happens .... it just sits waiting.

verrry strange , are you getting a flame????, if you are opening and closing the yellow handle underneath it should have no effect on anything as far as switching boiler on and off, that handle shuts gas off.

Fraid he is .......... burner comes out the top and ALWAYS needs new gaskets or it leaks combustion back into the room, even the electrodes dont come out without the burner coming out and its possible they just need the gap adjusting........... great design by boiler folk and builders!!

I agrre , the PCBs on most older Worcesters suffer from dry joints which chuck up wierd and wonderful symptoms ie boiler working when you press the pcb down with a screwdriver but stopping when you let go , the pump plugs and mains connections are favourites........ only way to sort is replace...

Done tons of these on Boilermate 2 s , nearly always the delay timer buzzing, thats the bottom one, it activates when a demand is asked of the boiler and its pump overrun after temp satisfied then the buzzing stops ....... For some reason nearly all of these are installed in bedroom cupboards...
