Old and new electric cable colours

New colours is perfectly fine. You should really attach a warning label at the consumer unit to warn about mixed colours, but in this day and age everyone working on electrical installations ought to expect this anyway.

    Ceiling junction box position

It's an absolutely cack way of doing things and there is no reason what so ever to not do things properly on a new build.

    Earth loop test by BG

Whilst it's all very easy to slag off BG, but two of my fomer colleagues, both very good electricians now work for BG. BG are a huge organisation, and whilst they do have their shortcomings, it's unfair to say they are all clueless and shouldn't be working on electrics.

Connectors blocks to reduce cable size for 12v lights

Yet again this is where your lack of experience shows. I've been to many jobs where a 250VA transformer will trip a B6 circuit breaker upon switching it on but never had the same problem with 10no. 50VA transformers.

Connectors blocks to reduce cable size for 12v lights

Except for if the transformer fails you loose all your lights, and the problems of VD when running ELV over any sort of distance. Oh and the siting of the transformer somewhere accessible and the inrush current too.

    Faulty switch?

It's someone who gets all their facts from google to try and make themselves look cleverer than they really are. I'd hardly call a rumour from some 20 years ago as great evidence to support your argument. You really do have a knack of making yourself look awfully silly.

    Faulty switch?

All you've proved is that you're a google warrior. All the lads on here with actual experience of electrical work disagree with the nonsense you continue to spout.

    Faulty switch?

I've been dimming transformers for years and years with no problems at all.
