Replacement gas fire and Gas safe

Hi all, not sure which forum was best to ask this so apologies if this is the wrong place. I got a gas fire replaced a few months ago (fire and hearth were replaced, new balanced flue to replace power flue). It was carried out by a reputable company who are gas safe registered etc. However...

Combi and thermostat fitting - failed attempt!

Sorted...luckily no rewiring of the thermostat itself was required, it turns out the timer was wired incorrectly. Not sure which cowboy had done work on this in the past, but it's all sorted now. Thanks for your help and assistance guys :D

Combi and thermostat fitting - failed attempt!

I've been away so I've not had a chance to get stuck into this again. However, a guy from BG had a quick look while carrying out a service, and couldn't see an obvious reason why it was wrong (as it was a service he had to call it quits after a half hour or so of investigating). However, it...

Combi and thermostat fitting - failed attempt!

I don't think not having an external clock is the problem, since the thermostat seems to have problems controlling anything at the moment. I agree with your comments regarding the timer, it does sound like the most sensible potential explanation. I'm away and won't be able to interrogate it...

Combi and thermostat fitting - failed attempt!

I've managed a bit more investigation. It seems that if the room temperature is above the thermostat set point, then the thermostat is not 'switched' to the on position (as would be expected). Under these conditions, the timer does not advance. However, if the room temperature is below the...

Combi and thermostat fitting - failed attempt!

The L & N supply to the thermostat are taken from the same supply as feeds the boiler, so yes, they are permanently live. okay, this may take some work to check, might not be able to do this tonight. However, given that the wire connecting terminal 1 and 2 are effectively the only part of the...

Combi and thermostat fitting - failed attempt!

I've been trying to install a Honeywell DT92E Thermostat to my Baxi Combi boiler, but my first attempts seem to have failed. The two attached images show the rather sparse user guide for the thermostat receiver (it's wireless), and the boiler itself. I've gone with the thermostat wiring shown...

Bubbling paint due to reoccurring damp problem, what cause?

I think the house is 1950s - I couldn't say for sure about the damp proof course, but I assume it has (is there actually any easy way to check??). I actually took back a lot more of the paintwork last time I repainted, and I seem to recall there was a difference in the colour of the plaster...

Bubbling paint due to reoccurring damp problem, what cause?

mac3, I did wonder that at one point as there seems to be a path from the side of the window frame down, but I'm guessing it was clear that the glass had failed in your case? I can't see any sign of where water would get in to the glass or frame.

Bubbling paint due to reoccurring damp problem, what cause?

I have a problem with bubbling paint work on the ground floor of my house beneath a living room window and to either side underneath the window. The bubbling typically occurs around 6-12 inches above the skirting but also higher up, with clear 'lines' of damp stretching upwards in places...
