Vaillant Turbomax HW problem - yet again. At wit's end...

Update: engineer attended (I wasn't there): despite call centre being told in detail what was probably wrong, he had not been advised, so couldn't replicate fault, & left. Now there's no hot water again.

Vaillant Turbomax HW problem - yet again. At wit's end...

I should have mentioned - the last BG engineer decided it was the microswitch - because I told him. But I didn't think it would fail within a week so have assumed it's a different fault. I hate them.

Vaillant Turbomax HW problem - yet again. At wit's end...

When it's working OK, all the lights come on in the correct sequence . I can't actually remember what this is but I know from experience that it is 'normal' Other sequences are thus: Turn tap on - pilot & power lights stay on, nothing else. Or: Turn tap on - fires up, lights on, but...

Vaillant Turbomax HW problem - yet again. At wit's end...

Can any really experienced gasperson guide me on this one? I have a 14 year old Turbomax VUW282E which over the years has had a number of new parts. It is now suffering from it's favorite fault, no hot water. But this time it's intermittent and random - 5 British Gas engineers have not...

Air & noise buildup following a powerflush

Certainly should be quieter, I WANT it to be quieter! A leak worries me, CH is pressurised at 1.5 bar. How would air get in?

Air & noise buildup following a powerflush

I had my old Vaillant combi & 8 rads professionally powerflushed 8 weeks ago, & Kamco Systemsafe DM was added. A fair bit of crud was removed, especially during the final SDS hammering stage! All rads left toasty & silent. For the past few weeks I've noticed a fair bit of gas (not hydrogen)...

What to fit: Magnaclean or Hydroflow?

I thank you sir, your munificence does you credit. This all came about after BG stiffed me. Today they have offered to fit me said Hydroflow for free to settle the dispute. Or I can have a Magnabooster for £280. Perhaps I should hold out...

What to fit: Magnaclean or Hydroflow?

Sincere apologies Axel, I didn't mean to be funny. It just sounded, to me as a non-plumber, that just one or two would suffice?

What to fit: Magnaclean or Hydroflow?

Axel, that sounds like overkill, surely not all three would be needed?

What to fit: Magnaclean or Hydroflow?

Thanks both! From what I have now read (& I am not a plumber), Magnaclean removes oxide from within the CH sytem, Hydroflow prevents scale forming on the mains water side into the boiler. So would I need both? or does the Fernox do both jobs?

What to fit: Magnaclean or Hydroflow?

After much faffing I have had my system properly powerflushed, then Kamco DM added. All very nice, much quieter & hotter rads, boiler still noisy but tolerable. I want to do my bit for prevention, but I do not know whether to add a Magnaclean or Hydroflow. I understand how Magnaclean works...

Using surface mounted hinges on MDF?

Hmm. As I will have more of these to do later in year, I may try both & see which is quicker! Thanks all!

Using surface mounted hinges on MDF?

Doors are 12mm MDF with a 5mm softwood decorative surround stuck on the front (shaker style). So even with a proper hinge cutting bit rather than forstner I fear I will balls it up... This looks easier http://www.catchesandlatches.co.uk/details.php?product=544

Using surface mounted hinges on MDF?

I've been putting off fitting some 'normal' self closing Blum-type hinges on my home-built MDF cabinet & inlay doors for fear of ruining them with a forstner bit. Does anyone know if it would be adviseable to use surface mounted hinges (which I have only just discovered) or will the doors...

    Grohe Adagio cistern flushpipe help

Thanks but I've got one of those, unused. The pan is offset, so only a flexible will fit.

    Grohe Adagio cistern flushpipe help

Can anyone guide me? I was about to replace a defective flexible flushpipe, but see that the bottom outlet for the cistern is 50mm, but I can only find 40mm end flushpipes. I havent been able to talk to Grohe & have to get it fixed before next week!

    Boundary Fence

"so they are absolutely no problem to me as I can't see them at all" Hmm. To see it from her point of view, regardless of what she is like, it isn't nice looking at shabby fencing. I would suggest you patch the bits that are unsightly (remember you have a duty of care to keep it in good...
