Update: engineer attended (I wasn't there): despite call centre being told in detail what was probably wrong, he had not been advised, so couldn't replicate fault, & left. Now there's no hot water again.

No. But it was changed about a year ago. I have booked engineer for Thursday morning, with view to adjusting or replacing m/s. I will update Thurday afternoon! much thanks to all.

I should have mentioned - the last BG engineer decided it was the microswitch - because I told him. But I didn't think it would fail within a week so have assumed it's a different fault. I hate them.

Thanks both! From what I have now read (& I am not a plumber), Magnaclean removes oxide from within the CH sytem, Hydroflow prevents scale forming on the mains water side into the boiler. So would I need both? or does the Fernox do both jobs?

After much faffing I have had my system properly powerflushed, then Kamco DM added. All very nice, much quieter & hotter rads, boiler still noisy but tolerable. I want to do my bit for prevention, but I do not know whether to add a Magnaclean or Hydroflow. I understand how Magnaclean works...

Doors are 12mm MDF with a 5mm softwood decorative surround stuck on the front (shaker style). So even with a proper hinge cutting bit rather than forstner I fear I will balls it up... This looks easier http://www.catchesandlatches.co.uk/details.php?product=544

I've been putting off fitting some 'normal' self closing Blum-type hinges on my home-built MDF cabinet & inlay doors for fear of ruining them with a forstner bit. Does anyone know if it would be adviseable to use surface mounted hinges (which I have only just discovered) or will the doors...

Can anyone guide me? I was about to replace a defective flexible flushpipe, but see that the bottom outlet for the cistern is 50mm, but I can only find 40mm end flushpipes. I havent been able to talk to Grohe & have to get it fixed before next week!
