ADT - Are they ripping me off?

Thanks guys, pretty much what I thought. Any ideas what I might be looking at costwise? Current setup is monitored alarm, 1 door sensor, 3 PIR, 3 panic buttons

Panic! WC cistern-to-bowl pipe is leaking!!!

Hmm, unfortunately I'm not sure that's a sound legal position. But I guess it would be reasonable if it failed within a year to hang it on them. Plus another kitchen ceiling!

ADT - Are they ripping me off?

At work we have an old TS800 alarm system. A few months back it was set incorrectly and need a remote reset. I called ADT, & they sent an engineer, who was here for about 1 minute. This cost £140.00 I queried this as in the past they were able to give response codes & got it all sorted...

Panic! WC cistern-to-bowl pipe is leaking!!!

It was sort of included in my Homecare agreement - he noted that "installation was wrong/pipe too short but repaired as goodwill gesture" Which was nice.

Panic! WC cistern-to-bowl pipe is leaking!!!

Grate news! It's fixed! But he just renewed the cone, the pipe is still worryingly short. I would like to replaced the pipe, but I cannot see exactly how the flexible pipe is fixed. I see from Grohe specs that the original pipe is held by compression collar, would that be the same for a...

Panic! WC cistern-to-bowl pipe is leaking!!!

Agreed, the pipe is reallly stretched as far as it can be, so it was only a matter of time. Seems my BG Homecare will cover it, so DynoRod coming in today to fix. Hopefully.

Panic! WC cistern-to-bowl pipe is leaking!!!

Yup, got the panel away, flexible flush pipe is indeed pouring water out when flushing. Pipe approaches pan at 45 degree angle & held in place by huge blob of silicone. Connector looks to be halfway out on one side, presumably a push fit that gave up. Maybe a new pipe would be the best...

Panic! WC cistern-to-bowl pipe is leaking!!!

Thanks Axel but I don't want to do it a FIRST time! But I'm going away tomorrow morning and am choiceless!

Panic! WC cistern-to-bowl pipe is leaking!!!

Yes, I'm less panicky now & I have just found some other posts on this subject - seems a real perennial problem. It's a flexible hose running from (slightly offset) Grohe cistern into back of the non-Grohe pan. The pipe's dry so def the connecting joint. For me the hardest part will be...

Panic! WC cistern-to-bowl pipe is leaking!!!

Last night the kitchen ceiling began to collapse! I duly identified that when I flush the lav, (clean) water appears on the floor - & has been doing so for many weeks, but all is boxed in so has gone unnoticed. My task tonight is to remove the boxing so I can access the back of the bowl &...

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

En fin. BG came again yesterday and fitted a new microswitch, and I have hot water! Huzzah! And it only took seven visits. Thank you everyone who supported me during this time of crisis. :D

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

Well there we have it. This one decided the pressure was absolutely fine, twiddled with DV microswitch & decided it was my fault for turning the HW on too slowly.

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

"The BG man may not know the difference between pressure and flow." Well that's just brilliant. I have a lovely old Vaillant 282, & yes it would come on at around (I guess) 2-4l/min. This morning wasn't the best but definitely at least 8 at the kitchen tap. He's arriving at 2pm (BGT)...

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

Reasonable but even on the last repair a mere trickle would ignite the boiler wheareas now we're back to full flow & not a peep from it. I'm getting a little fed up with it now, maybe it's reached the age where it just cannot be repaired effectively & I should get a new boiler. But not from...

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

I just noticed on one of the BG callout sheets eng has put "Low mains water pressure". If I open the filling loop it goes happily over 3 bar, is this considered "low" in the profession? Thames Water tell me that 1 is guarnateed minimum.

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

In defence of BG, I simply wanted the part back so I can see for myself how it was blocked, & if appropriate take it up with the guy that flushed my system the other year. Not having a pop, not accusing. BG are more than happy to come out, they have visited 7 times so far this year to try &...

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

Because we know which regs work & which are nonsense. Youngsters today coming to overregulated professions will become paralysed with indecision - nothing will ever get done. And everyone will suffer burst pipes and toothache.

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

I thought someone would spot that. Yes we do, and yes, we ARE breaking the law by doing so! Anything that leaves your mouth is technically infectious waste. But it's a tradition so we risk it.
