British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

I would imagine he's referring to the dynamic pressure when water is flowing rather than a standing pressure.

Reasonable but even on the last repair a mere trickle would ignite the boiler wheareas now we're back to full flow & not a peep from it.

I'm getting a little fed up with it now, maybe it's reached the age where it just cannot be repaired effectively & I should get a new boiler. But not from BG...

The BG man may not know the difference between pressure and flow.

I dont think you have mentioned your boiler model. Most turn on the DHW at about 2.5 li/min.

You should be able to get at least 10 li/min through the boiler to a bath hot tap.

Virtually all boilers can be repaired if the engineer wants to.

Well that's just brilliant.

I have a lovely old Vaillant 282, & yes it would come on at around (I guess) 2-4l/min. This morning wasn't the best but definitely at least 8 at the kitchen tap.

He's arriving at 2pm (BGT), watch this space...

Well there we have it. This one decided the pressure was absolutely fine, twiddled with DV microswitch & decided it was my fault for turning the HW on too slowly.

BG Dont know the difference between right and wrong!

you all say BG this an BG that most RGI are f*****G crap. due to p**s poor industry standard

Well I would not have put it quite like that , bit more sugar coated perhap's ??? , good & bad in all industry's , even boiler manufacturer's ???

Must admit bg do come in for alot of stick , in particular some of there bloke's at the coal face which is a bit un-fair as alot of them offer good advice & help on this forum !!!

I do admit this I used to work for British Gas & Ideal but no more.

but the industry standard is shocking  most of you guys on here seem to know whats what but have you all been in plumbcenter at 8.00am
my goodness....?

I would go along with that , some of it is pretty dire !!!!!!!!! I remember going on a limited scope part P assesment , well to cut along story short , & not to cause un-due alarm in an open forum , how we all got it never cease's to amaze me !!!!

Did I say ' how we all' , what I meant was ' how they all '

I usually get criticised if I make any comments on the general lowish standard of competence of many of the people in our industry.

The gas assessment is not the main problem as the assessment procedure is at least a requirement even if it sometimes seems rather lax.

The problem is that anyone with a G-S registration can let himself loose on the public without even knowing what reverse polarity means let alone having the knowledge or equipment to test it.

Reverse Polarity, thats when Polish workers come over here to work, and we go over to Poland innit

On the subject of reverse polarity , I was thumbing through an M.I , for a I.C.I Caldaie , solar 24F combi boiler , which they made some years ago !

In the commisioning sector , under the heading of Soft Light adjustment it state's @ to prolong the time available for adjusting the soft light , invert the the phase with the neutral on boiler supply cable , in this way you inhibit the ionisation causing the soft light to remain on for the entire safety flame detection time ???

Nice bit of bedtime reading.
Have you ever tried a novel?

En fin. BG came again yesterday and fitted a new microswitch, and I have hot water! Huzzah!

And it only took seven visits.

Thank you everyone who supported me during this time of crisis. :D
