    Conservatory drainage to soakaway

Hi I would appreciate advice regarding taking rainwater to soakaway. It's a 35 square metre roof with gutter exit to 70mm round downpipe. There is a large soakaway pit about 7 metre from the conservatory, dug 1 metre down, filled with rubble, topped with a membrane and about 6 inches of...

Widening a chimney breast - what's involved please?

Yes, a picture would be useful. Are you asking about increasing the width of the fireplace insert in your lounge? If so, yes it could be done assuming the chimney breast could safely accommodate the extra width but no idea of cost - would probably involve new lintels and associated building...

    Waterproof cement

There is only the one in the far corner. Builder built it in to drain water out but it is currently blocked with foam as drainage pipe not installed yet to join onto it. Waterproof cement will be needed externally and internally near this pipe installation as main area where water is getting in:-(

    Waterproof cement

Please see images for clarity......... The floor has been levelled with FEB and the walls have been tanked with KA tanking. I applied the tanking myself - not that easy and had to add more water than recommended to make it brushable. Heavy rain raises the water table and puts more...

    Waterproof cement

FFS read the thread, this stuff looks as expensive as tanking anyways! Tanking doesn't fill holes. I will be tanking after the holes have been filled. These are where water is seeping in around the floor membrane and where a plastic pipe exits at floor level. Because the tanking will be on...

    Waterproof cement

Thanks for the replies.........and for getting rid of the Indian spam - long way to come to sort out my underground storage :P Very hard to find out proper information on these products. All I want is an additive to mix with cement to make it waterproof.

    Waterproof cement

Thanks for this - wasn't sure if this sort of additive really did the job. I have 5 litres of Everbuild, Evermix 3 in 1 waterproofer, plasticiser and retarder. Would this do the job?

    Waterproof cement

I have a newly built underground space that seeps damp with heavy rain. There are a couple of area where something with more filling capacity/body than tanking is required. How do I make a good waterproof cement mixture?

Guarantee, Fensa certificate, energy specs for conservatory

The conservatory will not be part of the house. Separating doors will always be there and no heating will be fitted. I am very pleased to know that should I sell the house the purchaser's solicitors will not ask for a fensa certificate, guarantee or anything else - this was the most concerning...

Guarantee, Fensa certificate, energy specs for conservatory

Hi John Thanks for the reply. Doors are in place between main house and conservatory. All door glass and lower wall glass toughened on both sides, so it appears that the glazing regs have been properly adhered to. Does this mean that if I sell the house, the purchaser's solicitor would...

Stopping water penetration in underground space

Hi I have built a conservatory. There is a large underground storage area up to 4 feet deep underneath the conservatory bison beam floor. This was built last summer with a concrete infilled double skin block wall built on a foundation. The floor is concrete on top of a membrane which...

Repairing Cracked Window Sill - Should I use a Glue? (pics)

Hi The sill looks like concrete. Crack shown appears to be as a result of settlement, so possibility of more movement as well as expansion/contraction. Epoxy, cement or any hard forming repair will likely fail. I would use something flexible like Geocel 201 polymer sealant. You will...

Guarantee, Fensa certificate, energy specs for conservatory

Hi Slightly outside the remit of this forum section but as near as I could find - hopefully someone can advise. I recently purchased the UPVC, glass, doors, roof, etc for a conservatory from a company on a supply only basis. Intended to get this fitted myself but eventually used one of...

Problem with two piece concrete window cill join

Hi I have a leak where the two part concrete cill on one of my windows joins in the middle. There is a small gap, less than one eighth of an inch. It has been siliconed but the rule of depth not exceeding width broken so the seal has failed. Water is going through the cill into the...
