sludge and blocked CH in 3 year old system

I managed to catch one of the hand men who work in the area as the house is still covered under warranty and he mentioned the system was not flushed. I was shocked as I thought every new system had to be flushed. He mention, they don't flush these systems as its mostly plastic pipes - is this...

sludge and blocked CH in 3 year old system

Hi, Parents recently moved to a new home which is three years old. The previous owner never told us of some of the heating issue they had. One of the radiator does not heat up and most rads have cold spots in the lower middle section. We have a BG engineer turn up and provide a free service as...

    Copper Elbow joint black

Thanks I cleaned the flux off well, but when it was cleaned off the elbow was black. I was thinking of de-soldering and then placing a new yorkshire joint, while adding a small amount of extra solder. What do you think? Thanks

    Copper Elbow joint black

Hi, I recently had to move the radiator pipe to fit large heaters in the hallway. I have used yorkshire fitting without any additional solder. The joint can be running for 3 days without any leaks, however, looking at it, the colour of the joint does not look right... Should it not be a bring...

How do you fill a trench hole?

The plaster recommended mesh as it would reduce the chances of it cracking as we were skimming the wall over previous plaster. The base surface (old plaster) was painted over with 'key' green paint.

How do you fill a trench hole?

Many thanks, Will send pics, I was thinking should I attempt to PVA the wall inside the trench before applying bonding or/and use blue grit paint as a key surface? The previous plaster place a mesh netting on the wall which I will add before I use Gyproc Easi-Filler?

How do you fill a trench hole?

I recently had my wall skimmed with plaster with a excellent finish. But, I later noticed I needed to install a light switch at a new location. I had to break away the plaster to install a new conduit. The trench is roughly 35mm deep and 20mm wide, I was going to glue the conduit with some...

push fit vs compression vs solder joints

That does me fine. :) I'm looking to install a shower would like to hide the pipes behind the titles. Would you recommend using plastic pipes with pushing fitting? Is John West the recommended manufacture, price is not a concern, within reason.

push fit vs compression vs solder joints

One fitting will be under the bath which can be access be removing the side panel. The other fitting will be behind the gas meter (picture attached). I would like to move the pipe in the corner of the wall. I'm concerned of the fitting leaking and then ruining the new fresh plaster on the ceiling.

push fit vs compression vs solder joints

I have heard push-fits fail over time as hard water scale can build up around the seal over time causing a leak, any thoughts?

push fit vs compression vs solder joints

I'm looking at options of moving a 15mm pipe location which runs hot water from the first floor to ground floor (sink). I don't have any experience using solder apart from circuits boards and wanted to understand peoples experiences and recommendations of the choice of joints. I understand the...

Maintenance free junction boxes under pipe runs

Only other option it to re-dig out the plaster... The LED fittings are 230v, I have them connected in the hallway (attached picture). The fittings require a 85mm cutout, I'll see if I can place the central Wago near one of the fitting to allow it to be pulled though the cutout.

Maintenance free junction boxes under pipe runs

Sorry yes I mean a conduit. I have a conduit which runs from the living ceiling to face height inside a pillar (switch location). The pillar is shared between our though lounge and therefore the conduit needs to carry cables for both switches. This itself can only handle four 1mm cables, these...

    Fresh Install

When you purchase a machine, with pre-installed Windows it will normally come with a OEM version of the key. This key can only be used on the hardware supplied. If you have a genuine Windows OS and valid key you can install it on the machine. Have a look at the http://www.linuxliveusb.com/ you...

    Windows 8

Not sure if the this link applies to you, Windows Updates should no longer be received. Unless someone has made a modification on the operateing system. I know applications such as Chrome are no longer being updated if they are installed in Windows XP. My recommendation would be to upgrade via a...

Maintenance free junction boxes under pipe runs

Your design works well. I should have mentioned, I have a limitation on the number of cables the trunking can handle. Four is the maximum with some slight movement. I've had to break away a freshly skimmed wall to remove the old trunking to install a thinner replacement. I have to pre-feed the...
