Baxi Combi 130 HE - DHW flow problems

Hi, Just moved into a place with a 4 yo (ish) Baxi 130 HE. It seems ok on the CH and the DHW for the shower also seems ok (given a bit of patience) but being able to get a sink full of hot water for washing up or a bath is virtually impossible. Throttling the taps back seems to get the...

    Powermax 155x burnout

My PowerMax 140 had similar glugging sounds (gas valve I think) no ignition and no hot water. The lockout came on after several retries. My local chap repaired it for 185. The ignition board had gone on it and needed replacing. The Baxi HeatTeam people should be a good bet if they are...

    MODERATORS

Ahem. Who's the only person here who's posted 500 posts in a month? Mostly when drunk admittedly. I thought you were going back to the states anyway. You could try hopping on a plane right now. Probably a few seats free for a frequent poster like yourself.

On other forums, the post is usually left (edited maybe) with a comment from the Mod saying that such and such a post has been Modded. It's a big site and maybe they haven't got time to edit in such a way. A comment from a Mod maybe good here? I doubt they Mod posts that haven't broken...

Telltale signs - cowboy plumbers and heating engineers?

I like the JohnD approach speaking from a customer's perspective. Give out the landline (answer) and only use Mobile for emergencies. It can be pretty frustrating when you are paying for someone's time only for their mobile to go off and them spend time talking to prospective (or worse...

Vokera boiler heating OK but hot water not firing up

You misread it Bamber. Chris was suggesting that normal rgis fix faults 1 and 2 but often don't notice 3 and 4. PB was suggesting that 3 and 4 are resolved by Agile and DP before they leave the job.

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

Hot water is working. Old PCB left as requested so that I can have a pop at the builder. Completed all relevant documentation. Didn't hang around (20 minutes), arrived when he said he would and left the place nice and tidy. Gave some good advice re the scale inhibitor I've got too. Thumbs...

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

Harsh Tony, very harsh. We can't all have PhDs now can we. Besides which, T stands for Technician (as you probably know, I'm sure). He specialises in Vaillant installs and was extolling the virtues of Viessman with me (he'd installed a few and been on their course) had clearly been around a...

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

Recently had a Combimate-esque inhibitor fitted. Not sure, but there looks to be another factory fitted (maybe magnetic) device installed internally too. The HE is more like 2 packs of butter side by side but yes, I was told they were cleanable, but these were so caked it was untrue. Are...

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

Yes, the Main part NHBC expired in March but I think it's worth a shout asking. Things have got to be merchantable haven't they, unless this part would be deemed a consumable?

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

Thanks Ollski - he's very kindly come back to me saying it will be £185 all in - which seems fair enough if the part's a ton. I do think I'll have to take the spent part back to Potterton/Baxi though as this is only just out of NHBC warranty and surely an electronic part should not fail...

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

The chap's been. The missus says he had it all open and reckons it's the "ignition board" (the missus' words, not mine) which he says will not be cheap. This sound right or rightabouts? I'm seeing pound signs and bearing in mind it's had 2.3 years use (but is 3.5 years old) and has had 2...

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

Thanks both. Yes, shame I'm not in Neasden eh, but the commute would be a b1 tch and I couldn't afford CDG Towers in NWxx! I found an IPHE chap who just does domestic heating installations and repairs so hopefully I'll be ok with him. Chris - I do have an intermittent one too, but...

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

Trying to find anyone prepared to even look at one of these is turning into a bit of a nightmare - the plumber I have is strictly NON PowerMax and the HeatTeam chaps (Baxi/Pot) aren't "in my area" for over a week. Would I be fine to trust any name I drag out the IPHE hat if they are MIPHE or...

    Vokera Linea 28 - Code 1

Ha ha. Nice. But I think it was a Tay new build - he didn't do those did he?

    Vokera Linea 28 - Code 1

You'll like this one as it is Scarborough related... Mother went in to buy a Honda (not the Seamer Road one) and after lots of time from salesman A (let's just call him "ba stard" for now, you'll see why later) and a test drive, she asked the price. His price was "Y". She thought, that's...

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

I did indeed, all four burners burning bright but the boiler was not for turning when I tried firing it up again. Any other thoughts would as always be appreciated.

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

I think it was a Bamber ramble - funny as it was, maybe the mod thought it wasn't relevant! Boiler is truly stuffed and no nice fault diagnosis in the MI/UI. Cold shower was quite pleasant this morning but maybe not in October. :)

    PowerMax 140 won't ignite

Tony, thanks for that. DoItAll you say. hmmm... While I see if he has any contact details I'll give your theory a whirl (although we have cooked since we had the problem). If you can muster the will to check the "other" post out you'll see I was doing anything but advocating free repairs...
