    Alternatives to PVC trunking

It is RCD protected. Surely the 50mm is about RCD protection? If the same zone issue applies, then I make my battens and board 56mm thick at least. But this may be stretching interpretations IMO as then the PVC trunking needs to be in prescribed areas/RCD too? PS Apologies for LSOH...

Is a non-RCD freezer socket still acceptable?

The electrician is now convinced it doesn't comply with 17th, but says, okay I'll give a C3 as it does comply with 16th and that doesn't prevent a satisfactory report being issued. I can live with that, even though some on here think it's wrong:)

, Okay, asked the question, that was the reply. Does this mean batten and board (as I have plenty of it lying about, and a carpenter friend) would do?

    Ric2013's eco credentials

    Ric2013's eco credentials

http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/files/pdfs/migrated/MultimediaFiles/Live/FullReport/5575.pdf would go into far more detail than I ever could. I have seen this reported by others (other than Greenpeace) in the media. While I may be a drop in the ocean, I see no reason to add to the problem...

    Alternatives to PVC trunking

But how would I test the Zn [EDIT I meant earth loop impedence, Zs] of the shower circuit? I only have an old AVO8 and you can bet it hasn't been calibrated in the last 20 years. It only allows 12VDC resistance measuring, no more features than a modern £10 multimeter. The irony is that...

    Alternatives to PVC trunking

Daniel. I had thought of reclaimed PVC, but haven't seen any recently, nor steel type. I suppose the main question is whether there is a certification for conduit. If it's mainly an installation aid, and the answer is no, then anything goes. Re. steel conduit - if used, I would prefer...

    Alternatives to PVC trunking

Glad to see my eco credentials are of so much interest. They aren't perfect, and you will catch me out at some point. Please make a good list and I will endeavour to answer all questions in detail. However, if this is of interest, can someone please start a thread called 'Ric2013's eco...

Yes, by train. But I think this topic is at risk of being de-railed?

    Alternatives to PVC trunking

What did you expect from a former Centre for Alternative Technology volunteer? :) Well, those are the exact words on the EICR, I have my scepticism too. But I suppose most people use conduit because it looks neater and then it becomes the norm, so anything less is then less protected...

Err... 6242B LSOH, not PVC. Did I not put that in my post... will check. Anyway, what is there is there eg the windows! Most eco thing is to use it until it needs replacement.

    Alternatives to PVC trunking

Hi gents, Thanks for your help with the RCD question. This one is trickier :( This is in the same rented property, so all has to be 100% legal and through the proper channels. I have an illegal loft room the tenants are aware is to be used for storage only. In practice, it is too...

What kind of conduit should I be using?

Lots of people on this forum have given you helpful advice, especially the post prior to this. A thank you would have been nice. I can fully understand your exasperation (especially as I'm in almost the same boat, or am about to be), but it isn't anyone on this forum's fault. If I were...

Is a non-RCD freezer socket still acceptable?

Thank you to all. The report gave it a C2. I raised the issue with the electrician in charge (the person who actually conducted the tests had obviously not raised the issue with him, not as agreed) and he apologised and said he would correct the report. I may not be using the company...

What kind of conduit should I be using?

Sorry JohnW2, the electrician would be equally responsible either way, I'm being muddly. My concern was that, if there is no notification involved, and the electrician is obviously not advising the OP, the electrician may be happy to sign off anything provided he gets paid, resulting in an...
