Best way to make good job of existing kitchen counter top trim

Someone suggested jigsaw on fast setting using blade that cuts on down cut only, to save ripping top on up-cut. Don't want expense of buying jigsaw. Can you recommend method for really straight line and vertical cut. I'm not to bad with a saw when I take it slowly but I'm finding it difficult to...

Best way to make good job of existing kitchen counter top trim

Need to trim/ saw off end of counter top to be able to squeeze fridge in. See photos. Current gap is way too tight. Fridge is exactly 60cm across. Why internal combi expansion bladder fails?

Hi Folks I was on the way out to the garage this morning to check the heating circuit system pressure, before doing a test for pressure difference between hot and cold. Before I could do so I had to re-pressurise the system minimally, to 1 bar, as the pressure had fallen to almost zero. As I...

Why internal combi expansion bladder fails?

Hi I have a Grant Vortex 36e, 36Kw keroscene combi boiler, used to heat the house hot water and radiators. I got it in 2008, so it's 8 yrs old now. It has worked flawlessly except that I have had to replace the internal expansion vessel once before and now again (twice in all). I just...

Solid Mahogany door makes a huge clunk noise when closed

Thanks Foxhole, I'm in a very exposed location on top of a gentle hill beside a sea side cliff. There can be very strong winds here. Still stay closed? It's the internal front door and there would be a lot of extra pushing against it to open it, though I suppose folks would get used to it.

Solid Mahogany door makes a huge clunk noise when closed

I have thought about using one of these (picture below), but if the wind gets behind or in front of the door, I am not sure it would stay closed. The ones (of these) that really hold doors closed have a strong spring so I could end up back with the same noisy latch clunking problem. It seems I...

Solid Mahogany door makes a huge clunk noise when closed

Thank you JohnD, I will have a research on Perkos; I was not aware hidden door closers could be fitted. Nice idea. I fitted door buffers with the pneumatic piston a while back to every cabinet door and drawer in the kitchen; I never considered these for heavier doors. It just did not occur to...

Solid Mahogany door makes a huge clunk noise when closed

Some ppl just seem to not notice they are throwing the door against it's frame. So the idea is to make it impossible to create the huge clunk. Thanks Gerrydelasel I will try that. In hotels and big public buildings I wander what they do .. .. presumably there are people who would delight in...

Why does Combi boiler delay heat delivery to radiators but not to hot water taps?

Shambolic, I don't need a NEST, though had you not 'prompted' I might have had to think, 'what is that'? I modified my Honeywell CM927 wireless timing / controller switch; I added some electronic components (a NodeMCU, a songle relay and a 240ac to 5v dc power supply) and can now switch it on...

Why does Combi boiler delay heat delivery to radiators but not to hot water taps?

Hi Oilhead The combi is always switched on at the mains electric plug in the garage and can frequently be seen burning when there is no one in the house, and no one has been in the house for a long time, to recharge the hot water store. Is it possible the expansion vessel within the boiler is...

Solid Mahogany door makes a huge clunk noise when closed

Hi, I have two front doors in the house; a UPVC outside door and a mahogany/ glass inside door. The mahogany/ glass inside door is reasonably heavy and it is easy to firmly close it, or, push it hard home (heavy handed users) in such a way that it makes a huge clunk that can be heard by...

Why does Combi boiler delay heat delivery to radiators but not to hot water taps?

Hi I have a Grant Vortex Pro 36 Electronic Condensing Combi Oil Boiler (PDF Manual is here). For the taps the hot water delivery is immediate and as soon as the hot water tap comes on. It's hot as soon as the length of pipe is flushed out. Radiators are sometimes almost instantly hot, as soon...

Hi I have a mains pressure shower mixer which is only providing luke warm water, at any setting. The boiler is fine and provides roasting water to the other hw taps in the house, with plenty pressure. Water to the bath hw tap, part of this shower, which is from the same feed as the hw to the...
