    OK, sorry for adding again, but just been up the scaffolding debating and looking. The other problem with having gutters up now is that the downspouts will be in new locations and the drains aren't ready. Because we can't be certain exactly where they will be till the chamber is in the ground...

    Removed chimney breast - can of worms

    Found the foundation for the chimney/kitchen wall thank god! Under chimney hearth is defo just soil however so still have a filling-in problem, and wall is going to need sorting damp-wise so cream/slate/rebuild question still stands. Many thanks Kirsten
