    Thanks for the above but cannot use p/s lintels as it is face brick on outside. Guess I'll just use a standard lintel and cut out a slot for it on the outer face and slide it in from inside. Shouldn't take too long with a decent grinder! :D

    Thanks for the above advice. Re the BCO, he is happy either way, so we may put in a small window as we would be happier with this, despite the hassle. It looks like these sun pipes are quite good, so we may fit one when we have finished and can see what light we get from our little window...
