I will need to extend a water main which is the old black hdpe or mdpe. I will extend it with new 20mm blue mdpe to relote the old internal stopcock. Is it ok to locate the fitting underground under a new extension ( under a new concrete floor )? Are these fittings pretty failsafe? . It would be a lot of hassle to put the joint elsewhere. I would be grateful for any advise.

sure we had this question before.

You could run the pipe in a duct, like a 4" soil pipe but cheaper or the joint has to be outside where its accessible, the pipe must also exit the floor a minimum of 750mm from an outside wall or be protected with lagging.

Personally I would prefer the joint to be in the garden where it can do little damage if it blows.
