    Ok I've heard activity in the pipes and opened kitchen tap and water is flowing, the initial water was quite dirty but turned to clear. I'm going into the loft to check what's going on with the tank.

    oooh, I should also mention that about three/four days ago the cold water pressure dropped in the taps. Hot water is fine, power shower ok too, could this be related? The only plumbing work I have done was to turn off the cold water feed to the downstairs loo but other than that nothing?

    I have cut at the nut in diagonal sections so that each diagonal meets the diagonal below it, if that makes sense but the nut is still in place. the metal washer broke in half lol but it was rusty. I tried wiggling it about with pliers but nothing. Not sure how to cut now? I have tried to...

    thank you so much for your responses. With the hacksaw blade, what angle do I cut at , diagonally, horizontally, vertically(is that even possible?)? Do I cut through the wing nut? Will the nut break apart with pliers after? arrrghhh!

    The only lever I could locate was behind the unit facing the wall I reached my hand out to feel it and it just fell into my hand :shock: lol. I've taken some pics of it and will upload shortly. Up inspection, none of the edges are sharp or irregular so maybe it just became dislocated somehow.
