Combi drill not drilling into brick

Damn. I noticed I didn't see Joe 90 s post or what's the name? I must've clicked ignore for a couple of users instead of quote. How do I retrieve/ un-ignore posts/ people?

Combi drill not drilling into brick

I didn't put any pressure initially as the manual is full of warnings not to and I do as I'm told. :) but I got increasingly more desperate and did put some pressure on but nothing much appeared to happen. The dust was minimal and the hole left was only a little ' un.

Combi drill not drilling into brick

I'll go back over the manual tomorrow regarding the charger but the drill appears to be fully charged to me. I have no experience of what speed etc it should operate at to compare but its certainly feels like its giving it the beans.

Don't get me wrong, its not mistakes as such, just that the English translation is a little odd in places and isn't completely clear.

Twenty two mins. Its the makita lxt bhp453 combi and I agree I should definitely be getting a better result than I am. I'm sure that certain types of brick can be harder than normal but surely when a drill is sold to be able to drill through cement/ brick then that's what it should be able to do?

Screwfix. It certainly looks bona fide.

[/url] No its a very rough textured brick. I might be able to post up a PIC tomorrow.

Combi drill not drilling into brick

The drill appears to be fully charged. I'm just thinking has that something to do with it? It looks like its working at full pelt. The instruction manual English is a bit dodgy. I plugged in the battery charger, inserted the battery it went to a red light. When I checked half an hour later the...

You're right. The plug is much shorter about 38mm. Would the cement be much easier? Its unlikely I could match up the four holes to cement, I could of course get two done that way.

I agree. Even though I know nothing about diy it just seems to me that even a cheap bit should be doing better than the pitifully poor attempt I had today.

Red plug? I'll try to get the Bosch bits.

Combi drill not drilling into brick

Its on the high speed setting. I must have been hallucinating as the brick has what looks like white flecks not black through it. Im gutted as £150 is a lot of money to spend to not be able to do the job. I bought it for general diy and woodwork but also to drill through brick etc .

Combi drill not drilling into brick

Ahh. We might be getting somewhere. The brick does have black bits running through it. The chuck is tight fitting. Could a new bit make the difference?

Yes it turns clockwise. They are normal house bricks. I can't understand why its so hard work?

Combi drill not drilling into brick

Hi, I've just got a new makita combo drill. I am trying to put up a bracket for a garden hose onto brick pillars at my garage. I've charged the battery and put in a 7mm masonry bit in the drill at the hammer drill setting. It has taken about ten/fifteen mins to drill about 10mm into the brick. I...
