Weather compensation & Wireless TRV control

Thermal mass - worth considering. I live in a granite house but it's heated by radiators with no UFH so it still reacts faster than a screeded floor or a building with a significant amount of concrete where the time to get up to temperature is measured in days and the building must be seasonally...

Weather compensation & Wireless TRV control

I'll look into the WC - so long as it doesn't prevent me from wiring it up to the Evohome system I'll consider it. I disagree with the principle of keeping the whole building at the same temperature, so long as your zones can be well segmented and the rads aren't in a daft place, Evohome...

Weather compensation & Wireless TRV control

Dan, how long does it take for Evohome to adjust its startup time based on a change in flow temp? I'm assuming there's some sort of weighted average based on previous startup performance so it may take a week or so to adjust...

Weather compensation & Wireless TRV control

Appreciate the need to disappate heat, the pump continues to circulate to prevent damage to the heat exchanger. There's a towel rail upstairs to prevent the pump working against a closed valve, this also disappates any excess heat.

Weather compensation & Wireless TRV control

What's the concern with low load? Excessive cycling? Surely this happens in most premesis anyway as TRVs reach their target temp unless you lower the flow temp so that is almost matches the heat loss? BTW it's now £60 a rad, it used to be £80+. The internal boiler controls modulate the burner...

Weather compensation & Wireless TRV control

I think the savings are likely to be far below what Honeywell suggest - however, I'm also installing this to allow more control over the heating system. At the moment it only has a time clock - it makes a lot of sense to zone it up in my mind. Yes - if you added up the cost and included a...

Weather compensation & Wireless TRV control

Hi Dan, I have a Vokera 36HE so would need to add the weather compensation to this. I need to figure out if it will integrate ok.I don't yet know if it needs the separate wall mounted controller and if this can be in turn controlled by the Honeywell unit.

Weather compensation & Wireless TRV control

Afternoon all, I am planning on installing the latest revamp of Honeywell’s Evohome system when it is released later this month. As many of you know, the system learns how long the zone takes to heat up and learn when to switch on to hit a target temperature for a specified time. Does anyone...

    Radiator plug size query

Thanks Gav, will do. Bumped into a plumber outside this morning showed him a photo of the leak and he said it's probably easier to replace the rad... What is the world coming to..

    Radiator plug size query

Hi Pete, Thanks for the quick reply, is there any way I can confirm this? Presumably I need to drain the rad and check what actually screws into it rather than the nut on the outside.

    Radiator plug size query

Evening all, We have a radiator that is leading from the port by the bleed valve. It looks like the rubber seal has perished and I'd like to replace it. I've measured the OD and it's an inch, I'm assuming this means it's 3/4" fitting and I should look for a bsp plug? Please can someone...

Replacing a fused spur to serve underfloor heating

I had a change of plan for anyone who reads this thread in future. I've replaced the existing thermostat with one that offers all the features I need. No changes to the existing wiring needed. :D

Chuffed With W/M Door Seal Change

Ace - well done! I appreciate your sense of satisfaction - I recently fixed a broken door catch and replaced the seal on our washing machine (albeit with front & lid off). The joy of YouTube videos! Sadly two weeks later the bearings started to go :D

Replacing a fused spur to serve underfloor heating

That was the first half of the question 'what is the rating of the accessory/switch/not the protective device the actual current the unit can deal with?' Is the question I answered. Again, my reply relates to the second part of the question. I’m certain – even if it is silly. Tripping the...

Replacing a fused spur to serve underfloor heating

Thanks for the swift reply. I'm afraid I don't know what the current the unit can deal with is and it isn't obvious from the manufacturer's website. The fused spur I would like to replace was added by someone else to the upstairs lighting circuit - I'll check the RCD but it's probably 5A...

Replacing a fused spur to serve underfloor heating

Hi All, I have one of these: http://www.greenbrook.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=T40S-C and would like to use it to replace an existing switched fused spur outlet. I'm assuming I can link the exiting two earth wires and two neutral wires and wire it as a single pole single switch. The...

Replace existing wall timer with evotouch relay BDR91

The case is purely decorative it does not form an integral part of the appliance I'm not touching any fittings which affect the gas part of the system. AFAIK there is no problem with me doing this. If you can answer my query about the wiring I'd appreciate it.

Replace existing wall timer with evotouch relay BDR91

Thanks for the swift reply. I'm just after some re-assurance - section 2.3 of the BDR91 shows four wiring diagrams the second one showing the boiler with T1 & T2 appears to closest match the setup I have. In this case I think need to wire as follows: Wires from fused spur: Live – Wire to...

Replace existing wall timer with evotouch relay BDR91

Hi All, I have an Vokera 36HE boiler wired up to a time switch and I’d like to zone up the house using a Honeywell Evotouch system. I am looking into what is required to swap out the existing timeclock for the BDR91 relay box. I have isolated and opened up the boiler and removed the front...
