    Be very carefull though. I say this cos some acrylic primer/undercoats are made for specific enviroments. To be safe, i would go for Dulux Trade Quick Drying Wood Primer Undercoat. Then slightly sand down the srface of the above paint once dry.

    Painting a normal (dry) cellar with masonry paint

    Ok........ What to do then to be safe is coat a small area first with Dulux Trade Stain Block Plus and leave for atleast 72 hours. Then feel it to check it has dried. If so, then coat all your already coated bricks. Do this same process with Dulux Soft Sheen.

    Take paint back. Then buy Dulux Trade Stain Block Plus and apply this to your already coated bricks. Then buy, in my opinion, Dulux Trade Vinyl Soft Sheen and apply this in two or three coats. NB do it in the summer.......... Is the Cellar cold ?

    Could even be an Oil-Based paint that has been applied to the walls that is causing the bubbles. Me thinks the best thing to do is, leave the first coat to fully dry/cure/harden for 28 days. Then give the walls a slight rub down. Then re-coat.

    Give it an good Rub down (i.e. just break the surface), then apply Johnstons Anti-Mould Acrylic. It finishes in an washable matt finish. Therefore, hiding any imperfections due to being matt.

    Hence why i recomended Pliolite to you. Pliolite works as an Stabilizer when thinned down by 15% with White Spirit on the First Coat. Dont worry about some pebbles coming off whilst painting. This is normal.

    What surface are you emulsioning over ? i.e new/bare plaster or already painted ! Also, this bubblling you are refering to can be caused by an longterm reaction of using PVA on new/bare plaster years ago etc.
