    Crown extreme grip

Sorry but I don't agree with you on this one. I always use two coats of eggshell and if you prepare you work right in the first place you shouldn't need to rub down between coats, maybe a light de-nib thats all. But we are all different and work to our own ways. I wonder if crown or dulux...

    Crown extreme grip

Because eggshell (trade) is self undercoating, by using two coats for the eggshell you get a better satin (eggshell) finish, as the sheen builds up better when using coat on coat. If you read the info on trade eggshell tins, it will tell you to apply two coats. But thats not to say you...

    Crown extreme grip

Yep undercoat is very good when used in the right place, but not for eggshell. But for all other jobs, and even as a water stain block it is good.

    Crown extreme grip

I have used extreme grip and found it OK, but only now use Zinsser. As to the satin paint, I don't myself use the solo range, but would never just use a one coat system. You are better off getting crown eggshell (trade) and put on two coats of that, might take a little longer but will get...

    Height of C/U

I am a sparky, 7 yrs with Nic but was just checking about the height as on site yesterday myself and two other sparks all come up with different answers to this. My answer was it would be fine to keep it there and cables through the top would not mess up the ip rating, but the two others said...

    Height of C/U

Got to replace a old C/u but at the moment it sits in the down stairs loo and at the top of the wall, about 7'9" I have no problem it being in the loo but was unsure if a new unit had to be fixed below a set height, to do with Building regs part M. Have also looked in the BRB but found...

2000 LINNING PAPER SEPERATING AT JOINTS.

Lift the joints with a blade and try some overlap paste. Not sure why you used 2000 grade, the most I had ever used is 1000 and 99% of the time I use 800, which I find is more than good enough for most jobs.

What time of year to paint house exterior

I find the best time of the year for outsides, is normally late April or early September. Before this its to cold and wet, and mid summer (if we get one) is to hot or bright to work ( should be out playing golf)

    primer or undercoat

As it has varnish on it I would recommend you use a coat of zinsser first, this will seal the varnish and give you a good base for the emulsion. As to what zinsser to use is up to you, but I now only use cover stain, its an oil base primer/stain block but will take emulsion with out any...

Gloss v satinwood/egg shell on banister

I would use eggshell, and if you use the new Dulux c**p stuff it will come out looking like gloss anyway.

My day !!!! I'm not that old, well young at heart :D I still tend to cross line as it gives the wallpaper something to put against, cross fibers and all that jazz. But you could be right it might just be my age, anyway off for my mid afternoon nap now :D

Lining Paper - Do I need it?

Don't forget to cross line the wall, don't hang the lining paper the same as you would the top paper.

    Pa Testing

I know that and thats why I asked for some info, as for not knowing how to do a proper test, I do know how to test, did that when I got my 2391, and if I can't get to grips with the new tester I will just use my 1653. And yes I'm not good with forms but will get there.

No not £1:15 per item, I charge £45 per day plus £2:75 per item, well that was I did charge 4 yrs ago. Back then I was doing it with a different tester and a company who just downloaded the info and printed it off, so no I haven't filled out many pat forms, in fact the only forms I have been...
