Tiling over a wet room shower tray

This is a better example of what i mean - has the gradient been compromised here though? http://www.damsideselfcatering.co.uk/images/wetroom.jpg Thanks

Tiling over a wet room shower tray

so can you cut mosaics on a diagonal, i.e. accross the tiny tiles? is it def not possible to maintain the gradient with the mosaics not being cut? this looks like they aren't cut -...

Tiling over a wet room shower tray

Sorry, i ended up not explaining myself very well in my question because i'd written it twice before (longer versions) before clicking "done" and having it all disappear. The idea is that the floor is all one level. All tiled. Including over the top of the tray (specialist wet room tray). So...

Tiling over a wet room shower tray

Hi all, Can anyone tell me the best way to tile the gradient sides of a wetroom hidden shower tray? I would like to avoid drawing attention to a hidden tray, so i would like to reduce cuts as much as posible. Is it possible to use mosaics and lay them all the way accross with no cuts...

    Cistern making clunking noise

After researching water hammer on tinternet, i decided to check if it was a water hammer problem in the lav by draining the system and purposefully leaving an airlock (which i read would work as a dampener to the shock waves through the water and pipe). Sure enough, once i'd done this, the first...

    Cistern making clunking noise

the noise was only when the water was flowing through the tap and was a loud and constant gravely noise. Dodgy builder started talking about change in pipe diameter/round to rectangular spout etc etc... basically blaming the tap, but to me it just seems that too much water was trying to get out...

    Cistern making clunking noise

we've now reduced the cold water flow at the isolation valve under the basin which has helped a lot. I'm more worried about the lav though and how i get rid of the clunking noise. With regard to reducing the mains pressure, sorry if this is a stupid question, but is it not possible to do...

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

No it hasn't got a window. That is my understanding of it too Leeroy, and hence why i said to my builder that there is no way that i told him i wanted the fan and light entirely separate.

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

We do have a 3 pole isolator switch and aren't just using a two way switch. He has now got the fan to come on with the light but the timer is not working. (so that would be no live wire to the extractor yet, is that right?) I guess all of this confusion has come from him thinking that i...

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

Fab. Right, i think i understand. Fire risk from overloading circuit is a potential problem. Is it possible to predict if it is likely to be overloaded on the info that: this is a lights circuit for two reception rooms/hall/ kitchen with an added two spots and an extractor. So basically it's...

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

Hang on though, sorry, in addition to the above, he has already said that the electric supply is to the nex cloakroom is from the downstairs lighting circuit, and so the live must be coming from there and not directly from the fuse box. The switches live is from the same circuit though, hope...

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

He's still at it ! He's said that he is struggling because he has to "put in a new wire from the light switch" which sounds half logical given what has been said about needing the switched live and perm live too? Holmslaw, thanks, that's a good idea and i will check that. How dangerous is...

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

He has now made a call to an electrician friend who has told him how to sort it out. I hope. It has all descended into a row about how i apparently asked for the extractor fan to be wired separate to the light switch and how my request has caused all of these problems. Not that i made such a...

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

It was not my choice to have the light separate to the fan as i knew this wasn't right. The problem occured though when i said i wanted "to be able to isolate the fan with a separate switch" and he took this to mean that i wanted them entirely separate. To be honest i question him not...

    Cistern making clunking noise

Hi all, I've just had a concealed cistern lav fitted downstairs, and to my dismay it makes a loud clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk noise at the point at which the valve is just closing off (i think, as it happens after the cistern has been filling normally for a while). Builder says it because of...

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

Thanks guys for responding so quickly. I suggested to my "sparky" (read "dodgy builder") what you both said and he seems to think that that will not help because this is not a new independant circuit and has come from the downstairs lights circuit. Thus 2 q's: 1) Should they have done...

    Is my extractor wired incorrectly?

Hi all, wondered if anyone could advise me on the following please: I have had a downstairs cloakroom installed, including an extractor fan with an overrun timer (with isolator switch). My problem is that the fan does not come on with the light, only when the light is switched off, and then...
