    Hot water is only warm

OK, boiler engineer came today. He agreed that with me that the temp was way too low. He did some diagnostics and deemed the thermistor was dodgy and also changed the main board. Water seems a lot hotter now with a 39 degree rise at 12L/minute. He also gave me a PRV as a precaution, however Im...

    Hot water is only warm

Yeh, just frustrated after shedding out a lot of hard earned cash for something that doesn't work, or worse something that may be working correctly but doesnt meet expectations.

    Hot water is only warm

I rekon 12L /m rated flow of the boiler isn't going to be enough to meet my expectations. I may have to see if the installer will exchange the 30kw for something larger

    Hot water is only warm

I think there maybe a regulator of sorts in the boiler which reduces the flow rate to 12L/m agree? Is it just coincidence that the flow rate is bang on considering the cold water flow rate to the house is substantially higher?

    Hot water is only warm

Yeh, I can't get it passed 60 on the boiler itself. So maybe as you say, dodgy kit. Lets hope matey solves it on Thursday.

    Hot water is only warm

It's maxed out at 60°c but doesnt reach anywhere near that. BTW, the 12L/m measurement was with the cold water feed valve to the boiler fully open.

    Hot tap is 15 seconds to fill 3L. 1L every 5 seconds, = 12L /minute

    Hot water is only warm

OK, just tested with a 3L jug. Cold tap on full blast filled the 3L jug in 8 seconds. So, if my maths is correct, that's 2.66L every second. Does that mean my cold water flow rate = 160L/Min? Approx figures ofcourse.

Sorry PRV pressure reducing valve. Yeh ok ,understood.

    Hot water is only warm

5.6 bar with no other tap open. So, would that increase the flow rate? Pressure relief valve or an inline pressure regulator? What is the 'normal' pressure on mains water?

    Hot water is only warm

I've measured 82 psi (5.6 bar) inlet pressure at a cold tap nearby to the boiler. I think this sounds a tad high, anyone like to clarify?

    Hot water is only warm

I've not noticed that the mains water pressure is higher. I have a pressure gauge set, I might test it out of curiosity.

The new subject boiler is a viessmann vitodens 100w with a power output of 30kw.

    Hot water is only warm

I was only referring to the plate heat exchanger and some possible build up of calcium etc in my older boiler (I had it changed twice in its 10 year life span) The old boiler in my old house was a (don't laugh) Ravenheat 30kw Despite being a cheap unit I was happy with its performance...

Installer recommended this boiler as he allegedly one fitted at his home (as you mentioned)

    Hot water is only warm

I have just reduced the flow rate by approx 1/3, & the water temperature has increased to an almost acceptable level. But my old boiler (a cheapo one) was able to produce scalding hot water during the winter months without a reduced flow rate, albeit mains gas and not LPG (if that makes a...

    Hot water is only warm

Flow rate is high, exactly what flow rate I don't know yet. Yes, combi boiler. Agricultural I know, but I used a small thermos and ran the water into it for a few minutes and the thermometer reader 40 degrees. Maybe I need to get the RGI back?

    Hot water is only warm

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong area of the forums. I've just had a new Viessmann Vitodens 100 30kw boiler fitted on LPG, the CH is not fitted yet with only one small radiator as the load. Problem is, DHW is at the upper end of warm, after 5 minutes of running the water, I can...
