Removing underlay glued to concrete floor

you can buy a floor scraper, has a massive very sharp blade on the end designed to lift tiles, that should do the job, or wickes do a little version for wall paper that will do a decent job. depends how big the room is, i think screw fix do the floor version.

Conservatory heating, Under Floor or Radiator?

i would go for both, but only if your boilder can handle the extra capacity. however personal choice would be radiator and eletric under floor heating. don`t put the cables in /under the screed or concrete, use a thermal matting, and lay the cabling on this, then put your flooring on top...

    How does one remove pebble-dashing?

Removing the render is quite expensive, then the brick work under neith needs to be scrubbed to get the small bits off, builders use a metal nibbler i think its called, its like loads of metal rods that are vibrating, anyway it may be quite expensive, and it is exposing older bricks to the...

    Fireplace: replace vs retile?

why not replace the tiles with new ones, or paint them! see pendragon fireplaces for ideas, if your house is nice rip out the gas and have a real fire again, if you are not in a smokeless zone. thats what we are doing, although we have some horrible 1980s brick fireplace instead of a lovly...

papers in in new homes as its cheap and quick, our smallest bedroom which is 8x8 approx has been £200 for a full skim including the ceiling, which looked like some sort of crazy paving, also bricked up a huge vent that needed filling and channeld in the lighting cables, he supplied everything so...

Airvents in boarded up chimney YES or NO?

depends if the chimney has a cowl on top, if it is totally blocked from the top then yes vent, if it has ventalation on top and a cowl to stop rain coming down then is will be fine not to vent. for fireplaces check out pendragon firepleces, we are doing the same, although it is difficult...

Sealing Air vent in the bedroom.

i am worried about the expanding foam coming out the vent on the exterior wall, making it look like my house has a cold. will see what the Hit and Miss vents can do and maybe try and attach something to the exterior vent to just take the flow down a bit.

Sealing Air vent in the bedroom.

great timing chaps, was just about to post the same thing. I have a huge vent in our smallest bedroom, about 10 inches square, and its a metal vented plate, one on the inside, one on the outside of the house, it seems that these were fitted to all houses in the 20s and 30s that had gas as a...

    open fire in living room

the chimney may not be lined, they were only lined if the internal fabric of the chimney was damaged or in bad repair, you will know when it is swept and aslong as no loose material comes down it should be fine, Check you are not in a clear skis section of the UK, would mean you can only burn...
