    thank you, yes it only takes one lot of water in and then freezes. i will check the valves. is it normal for the drum to do 1/2 turn then stop, as sometimes it does this for a few mins before seeming to run normally?

    i am assuming that 8kw is the output, therefore its input would be around 3kw maximum, 4mm or 6mm would be fine, 2.5mm would be pushing it a little, you wouldnt need a 63a isolator, 25a would be fine

    if they are 18/20w lamps you can run them in series, but you woud need a 40w choke and series starters. you could get a 2x 18w hf ballast which would run both lamps for about £20

    fuse down Air con unit

    although no help really, a lot of the IMI units i used to fit had a fuse in the condenser which was normally 3amp which protected the crankcase heater, fans and evaporator.
