Control for HW in the Cylinder - Gravity Fed System. I need

I have a very “primatic” system! I got a new boiler fitted a year and half ago and the plumber thought it was a pain to separate the hot water therefore he fitted it with two pipes (the return cold water and the hot water). He also fitted a motorized valve to be able to just run hot water in the...

Control for HW in the Cylinder - Gravity Fed System. I need

Hi, I need a bit of advice. Two question basically. I have a gravity fed heating system that when the heat is on, heats radiator and hot water cylinder. I don’t seem to have any sort of control in the HW cylinder. So my two questions are: 1- Is it worth for me to spend money and fit some...

    Wireless Thermostat and boiler response

I always own a wired thermostat or programmer /timer so this may sound a bit of a dumb question but is there a sort of delay with wireless thermostats from the time you press the button till the boiler actually comes on/off? Thanks.

Open Heating System (Vented) and Thermostat Cylinder???

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Sorry I think I did not explain it well. I mean when you set the hot water in the timer to run for one hour. But in practice it does not take one full hour to heat the water in the tank, I’d say more like 20 mins. Does it now make sense?

Open Heating System (Vented) and Thermostat Cylinder???

Sorry it is actually an open system – vented – with an expansive tank in the attic. How does the motorised valve speak to the boiler? When I asked my local plumber, he explained it to me as once the motorised valve shuts down and there is no water going to the boiler this will shut down...

Open Heating System (Vented) and Thermostat Cylinder???

I have a Seal Heating System Vented. I don’t have any control over the hot water in the cylinder therefore I am getting a plumber to fit a tank thermostat and a motorized valve with the intention to close the supply of hot water to the tank when the water inside reaches the 60 degrees. My...

Heating the Hall a waster of oil/money? What is your view?

Question for those heating experts and anyone who wants to give it a go at answering my doubts. I have a single panel single convector in the hall. My hall is narrow and standard length but l feel this radiator struggles to get the hall/stair to a warm temperature. I’ve read in some forums...

Hi, I am not sure whether I will get any response or not but well I’ll give it a go. I am doubting between getting hive and Tado, for heating and hot water, and I was wondering if anyone could be in a situation to give me advice regarding the two of them. I know each one has its pros and...

"Drop down" system&unable to split hot water w

Yes it is a gravity system. You are right. The boiler is outdoor warmflow kabin pack 21-26k. After carrying this work and I am looking to fit a Hive or Owl intuition but I guess that is a completely different matter here.

"Drop down" system&unable to split hot water w

Hi, I would like to hear a bit of advise on this topic. I have what here in Ireland the plumbers call "drop down" system. I was told this is identified when ground floor radiator pipes come from the wall and not from the floor. Anyway, the thing is that all the time I turn the heat on also...

Expansion vessel in Gravity feed system-Advice needed please

In a different note. I have zone the water from the heating. The only thing is that when heating the radiators, boiler only heats the water in the cylinder. In my system, is there a way to heat radiators without heating the water in the cylinder? Thanks, David

Expansion vessel in Gravity feed system-Advice needed please

I used to bleed daily and then turned out I had a leak in system. Plumber put some leak sealer and since then it has seemed OK. I haven't had to bleed any radiator yet. How often would you call it "time to fit a vessel"? I have noticed two neighbours in my street seem to have one fitted...

Expansion vessel in Gravity feed system-Advice needed please

Yes yes he said an expansion vessel. Sorry I actually confused the names. The system gets a fair bit of air so I wonder if it is worthy to spend the many in the expansion vessel. He did balance the system for me already.

Hi, I am planning to convert a garage into a living space. I am a total newbie but I would still like to give it a go and try to convert it myself. The floor is currently concrete and needs to be raised to match the level of the rest of the house. Walls are blocks and ceiling is already...

shower trays with low profile or not!?

Thanks for the reply. I much appreciate it. I phoned my plumber and he seems to think that there shouldn’t be any problems to fit a low profile into my en-suite. He said that it will be a bit harder to install and should not have waste problems. Anyway, I am still dubious about whether or not...
