Many thanks for the reply - as that is what I think but not being a heating engineer these things tend to confuse.

We have the above boiler (2 years) and it has recently started "acting up" -it has a timeclock set for morning which always seems to work at 530am till 730am and then a couple of blank slots to cater for later programming in daytime winter - but then we have it programmed to fire-up at 430pm...
