Hi Noseall, thanks for your reply. Although I don't know from your sparse answer whether being wood is a plus or a minus.

    Elliotis or drywall

Hi, I have large bare block walls in my garage (which I am converting into a studio type living area, including small kitchen) and had intended to 12.5mm plasterboard them using everbuild pink grip dry fix and then double lining paper, then wallpaper over that. however I have just been offered...

    Removing outer skin brickwork

Hello Chukka, Damn right, it's either ok or it's not. Sounds like typical beaurocratic bull**** "we want to make the rules but would prefer somebody else to underwrite the decisions".

Hi guy's, snowed off at the mo, which can be a danerous thing for me as I tend to start rethinking things and throwing a few what if's into the equation. I mentioned in one of the above posts that I would like to install windows at some stage, well a likely candidate has surfaced on e-bay...

Thanks for that AMEdinburgh, even more food for thought. A cursory look around the internet threw up nice pics of REDZAW RZ60's, none for hire though. Cheers, Dave.

    Removing outer skin brickwork

Thanks for all that guys, forgive the delay in responding, was working late last night. Can't believe how reasonable it is to hire a saw. Now all I need to do is decide which one. Hotrod, yep, live in Leyland.

    Removing outer skin brickwork

 Lol, you're scaring me now, I can see me losing a limb here. I'll take a pic after I've made the cut, it should be good for a chuckle. Is there any particular cutter that you could recommend.

    Removing outer skin brickwork

Yes, the lintel is 2700 and the french doors are 1500. I am told that the lintel is a catnic and spans both skins. Just to clarify did you say that the window has a steel lintel over it too one course higher than the wood one. Cheers, Dave.

I wonder why they did that...still it's good news for me about the steel lintel as I would like the option to put windows in too. Thanks for that Chukka63

    Removing outer skin brickwork

Here are some pics.... The wall must have housed windows too but looking at the grey wooden supports over them I'm not sure how that will have worked. I'm also confused by the odd brickwork shown on the exterior shot.

    Removing outer skin brickwork

Hi gday2uk, thanks for your response. Yes the right size thing was where the idea for cutting the upright edges first came from. How would I get finished edges to the brickwork using the hammer method, and as I am working alone and at weekends only, what do you think my chances are of getting it...

    Removing outer skin brickwork

Hi Garyo, thanks for your reply. The outside wall is bare brick and the brickwork is stitched in. I am very much a semi competent DIY'er and as such although the turned bricks sound like a lovely idea, I doubt that my bricklaying skills would pull off the final look. Also, and I hope that...
