Many thanks for that. One of my issues is my bedroom fails to get warm in winter. The radiator in there does look old but does get hot. The radiatoris a big one but is very thin , prob only about an inch wide at most. What I'm wondering is can i just swap the rad out for a modern new one...

one pipe radiator vs two pipe radiator?

I mean each individual radiator. Do you have to buy a certain type of radiator or is it just the way the radiator is connected that makes it a one pipe or two pipe system. I know the trvs are specific but are radiators specific?

one pipe radiator vs two pipe radiator?

Is there a difference or is it just the way they are plumbed in? Cheers Gav

How can i be sure I have a one pipe central heating system??

Not in the slightest. I'm pretty sure if you were being told different things by different people you would be a bit wary of spending £1300 on something that may be of no use! If i thought i was better than the plumbers i would be doing the job myself.

How can i be sure I have a one pipe central heating system??

Not sure i get you ... is that a no? I did have a central heating engineer come round and quote for changing all rads that are there at the mo and installing two new ones. How do i know i'm getting the right info. He wasnt going to change ony of the pipe work just the rads?
