How to cut MDPE pipe square!!!??

...cutters. These cleanly cut but there's so much play in the blade that getting a square cut is merely luck. - a rotary 15-22mm plastic rothenburger cutter, this failed miserably. These don't actually get through the material, but even using them as a starting point it's not square!!!!! - a...

Core hole - carry on or hammer action and bash through?

...I prefer to use a SDS drill bit longer than the depth of the wall and then let the center guide pin in the arbour follow that hole. That said, the only kit at Screwfix that has a guide rod rather than an SDS type bit is the Rothenburger kit. On reflection, I think my arbor is the...

    Search by date order

Curiouser and curiouser. I don't get the same number of results as you when I search for "rothenburger", I get 59. It would make sense for a discrepancy to be down to not getting hits for posts from people on my ignore list (although 75 feels like rather a lot). But I do get 59 from each...

    Anyone recommend decent pipebenders?

...when most plumbers spend around £1000 or more on drills (mains sds, 24v cordless, mains diamond...) I'd willingly pay £200 for a well designed bender. I think the Record one is as good as any - at least its handles are straight. I've used Hilmor, Monument, Record and the godawful...

Large pipe cutter to use on Unicol poles

...my usual method but wanted to cut out the time as we have loads of poles to trim. Ashamed to say the answer was right under my nose, Rothenburger in Kettering are on the same trading estate as us, they do one which will manage the size of poles  gonna give one of them a try then...

Should I remove blowtorch from gas canister when not in use?

I have one Rothenburger on a blue butane/propane and another on Mapp gas.....I’m too idle to disconnect the torches but I don’t think they leak either. Or at least, I can’t smell anything and they’re never empty. Wish I could say the same about Machine Marts argon/CO2 cylinders.....bought a few...

    Which blow torch

I needed to get a new gas torch and was all set to buy a Rothenburger - the dealer never had one in stock so (reluctantly at the time) I bought the Monument torch. Have to say I'm glad I did as it's been faultless so far and quite a bit cheaper - too early to say about longevity yet as it's...

best dry pressure tester for Heating systems??

...heating pipework etc, to save on spotting potential leaks after filling up! Do any of you guys use one? A freind of my brought a rothenburger RP30 and sent it back the next day stating it would take days to pressurise a heating circuit? If any of you can reccomend a good tester i would...

Shower pressure of cold, leaky sink! Help please :)

As your pipes are tiled in, I’d give anything a try......the Rothenburger is indeed what I meant, and I’d also consider a wet vac, with a suitably taped nozzle to fit on the exposed pipe. The basin mate is what you need, and it is inserted up into the basin and secured with that back nut -...

    Air compressor to test pipework

I prefer a wet test. I think Rothenburger do an electrically powered test bucket... but it will cost. If you do an air test the air temperature has to be taken into consideration. I did an air test twice recently... once filled warm afternooon and the pressure had halved over night as the...

    Reusing Hep2o fittings

...elbow I've not used, put a bit of copper into it, screwed it together. Yes, can still rotate. Why have i wasted all this time on a top Rothenburger Torch and flux and wire wool and learning to solder? Once you take the fitting apart though there doesn't seem to be any way to get that green...

best option for fitting tee on this pipe?!

...torch have you got ? dcawkwell is dead right - I found that to my cost  once - But having said that , most plumbers now have a Rothenburger size lamp anyway. I would say a Yorkshire fitting with a touch of solder added . heat the fitting and the pipe keeping the flame moving - and...

Should I remove blowtorch from gas canister when not in use?

I went over to gasless a while back, used to rent a bottle off BOC but it was too much for the use my MIG got.

Reheating and rotating 22mm end feed copper.

Oh, it does - MAP is a much more concentrated and hotter flame. You can braze with them. I have a pair of Rothenburger's, I gave all my little butane / propane torches away, apart from a really big one, which was good for melting bitumen.

    Soldering

...water supply and test for leaks. The other thing is don't attempt to solder any pipes with water in. Flux is a matter of opinion but I use Powerflow flux or Everflux. It needs to be an active flux. Solder needs to be lead-free A good blow torch make is rothenburger used with MAP gas
