1st...sounds like something in the pump filter. if not, new pump maybe.....pattern replacement about £20-£30. 2nd...hissing is probably a blockage in the water trap at the top rear of the machine. had a few of these & should only require a good clean out. its a follow your nose job. look for...

if it says hard wire,then i'm afraid it has to be. It is a power thing, normally if its under a total wattage of 2800, then a 13 amp socket should be man enough.....over that , then its hard wired .
