    Cutting bricks with a grinder.

Thanks for the reply. Good tip about taking all the half bricks out, I will do that. Sorry for the confusion, I currently have 230mm blade in, I could use that to cut the majority of the way through and then buy and fit a 300mm brick cutting blade to finish it off. I would need to take the...

    Cutting bricks with a grinder.

I am going to take out a window in the garage and cut out the rest of the bricks to fit a door. The bricks are 100mm thick, my angle grinder takes a 100mm blade but the body of the grinder will hit the wall and only cut 75mm deep, even if the body of the grinder did not hit the wall, the...

    UPVC door hinge

hanks for the reply. I opened the door and looked all around the hinge on both sides but there is no grub screw. So I got an old screw driver and hit the 4 pins with a hammer, once they were free they came out easily. Very pleased, thank-you.

    UPVC door hinge

I have fitted 2 UPVC doors before and the doors lifted on and off of the hinges. I have a second hand UPVC door that I want to fit on the side of my Garage but this must be an older or different type as the door does not lift off the hinges. I have put a picture of the hinge in my albums...

    Stuck isolating tap.

Yes I could try to replace it with one of those leakydave mentioned. Excuse my ignorance, when you say 'bung the water tank', do you mean tie up the ballcock and empty the tank or block the whole with something?

    Stuck isolating tap.

I have got the valve free and have closed it off but it does not shut the water off. I tried it both ways to make sure. I live in a bungalow and can see the pipe come into the airing cupboard from the tank in the loft, after the valve the pipe goes through the wall to the cold tap on the...

    Stuck isolating tap.

Ok, I have just sprayed it with WD40, will let it soak it for a while and add some more later. I wondered if there was a special tool to put in between the gaps of the red circular handle and get more leverage that way.

    Stuck isolating tap.

I want to take the old bath out to fit a new one. In the airing cupboard there are 2 red circular isolating taps/valves. The one I don't need to turn off works fine, I can open it and close it no problem. The one I need to turn off will only move a tiny amount each way. I have tried...

Fitting a UPVC door to a garage

I bought a second hand UPVC door and want to install it to my garage. There is a window in already and I was going to take that out and cut the rest of the bricks out to fit the door but because there is a lintel it would mean the door would be 1 brick below the DPC. Is that a bad idea...

Telephone extension with screw type terminals.

I am going to install a telephone extension box from the master. The master box has terminals that I can use the push down tool on. This is a daft question I know but I want to make sure I get it right. The extension box has screw down terminals, do I need to strip the orange and blue...
