Surface or Slim LED downlights wiring (T&E)

Yep they look good - seems limiting factor is the driver size for this type of fitting. looks about 40mm is the best you expect to get away with to squeeze in the driver somewhere close to the aperture .

Great Thanks for that, any enlite models you have used you would use again ? How big are the drivers for those ?

Surface or Slim LED downlights wiring (T&E)

The scenario is a very shallow void of 25mm + Plasterboard+skim so say 40mm tops. Has anyone come accross either surface mount or otherwise ultra slim recessed LED downlights than you can terminate 2 x 1mm T&E into ? I can find plenty of slim downlights on line but cant see how they can be wired...

    Distribution circuit fro Henley bocks

The customer would like to convert detached garage to an office/small gym As there is no gas supply he wants an electric shower and a water heater for a basin. My plan is to take a feed from the existing meter tails via Henley blocks to a small CU with a 80A mcb acting an OPD for a 3 core 16mm...

Errrr....toptrumper, I have never known a name so apt as yours, well done !! EDIT: Please explain why you are not ashamed of giving advice that could potentially cause a fire and at best is contrary to any reg since about the 2nd edition without having a rethink and perhaps an admission you...

    2 electric showers

17thman, you appear to be under the impression that electric appliances with heating elements are constantlydrawing full load when in use and that families exist who switch everything on and then have a shower for an hour (or two showers in this case). This is not the case, and cutout fuses...

    2 electric showers

Why would this trip the cutout ? Even a 60A cutout would not trip with the 2 showers in use, the cooker plus much more. In fact it would take over 100A for the best part of an hour to blow a 60A 1361 . Also if the showers are thermostatic, then you would find a clamp reading of significantly...

    Apologies...another (simple) bonding question

All circuits in a special location require protection by RCD regardless of 50mm depth.

    consumer unit connections

Whilst your reply "why do you need to know" on its own may not have been immediately obviously obnoxious or sanctimonious (although I suspect was never-the-less deliberately provacatively phrased), when taken into context with the plethora of your rantings typified your irreverence. In my opinion.

    Switching a switched live?

Surely there must be a permanent live at the light switch ? Yes, you could use a grid switch, presuming this is outside the bathroom. You will need a DP switch in one gang, a fuse in another, (for the fan) and the dimmer for lights in a third. Yes, providing in correct zone and...

    Wireless Alarms

Breezer, I wasn't intending to mock you, just that £30-£50 every couple of years isn't that big a deal. And you didn't provide any figures to what the cost of in electricity is for a wired system ....may be small but its still powering the devices/charging batteries 24x7 and as I said the...

    Wireless Alarms

£54.90 every 2 years ? wow thats an astonishing amount of 52p a week, or 8p a day, what is the cost of a hard wired system per day/week ? And even then you have to replace the batteries in the panel and bell anyway. Just installed the visonic system and the build quality is very good. The...
