Toilet Cistern has condensation on it.

You are on the right track there ... Thats what I would do! Problem is caused by humid air condensing on the cold surface of the cistern so you must either remove the humid air or stop the surface of the cistern being cold or accept the problem and catch the drips. Here's some good and bad...

Am I expecting too much- Manrose 100T inline extractor fan?

my bathroom mirror does not steam up. It is close to the radiator. The fan runs constantly when the bathroom is occupied so steam does not have much chance to build up. The dg window does get wet with condensation in cold weather though, as does the WC cistern.

    Condensation from toilet

Try cleaning the toilet cistern or bathroom mirrors with shaving foam. It takes just a tiny amount. Condensation forms still but as a very thin film which quickly evaporates. You'll find it's not a permanent fix but it's easy to re-apply. It works on car windscreens too.

    Return of rising damp?

Okay, he has been out today and gave it a thorough check. He says it's not rising damp or a leaky pipe, but simply condesation. Because that corner is the coldest part of the wall, and we do suffer from really bad condensation (tons of droplets hanging from bottom of plastic cistern, plus on the...

    Plumbing

Why make life difficult? If it were in SS there would not be any need to cut with a hack saw (which can't be that easy, as you need to cut through the washer which surrounds the bolt, in a confined back braking space!!!! with filthy rust impregnated in WD40 oil on fingers...etc. Going back to...

    Condensation on the Cistern

I thought I would take this a step further and asked a product supplier if he knew of something suitable. Here is the relevant part of his reply.. I have been in the business 40+ years .... the problem you describe is certainly well known. Do not waste you money on coatings, they will...

    Toilet Condensation

I had exactly the same problem and also thought it was condensation. After many months I finally cracked it. The inlet valve was not closing on the rubber washer perfectly and whilst you could not see it there was a very fine spray of water emanating from it. I only noticed it when for the...

    Rising damp

All pipes are surface, just a toilet cistern mounted on the wall, above the damp area, but the wall directly below is perfectly dry.

Bath taps, basin taps and cistern running slow

Both hot and cold taps run slow. We have an sealed system Ideal Icos condensing boiler in the loft. Didn't have a problem before he fitted the taps. The problem with the loo cistern not filling didn't happen before either, not even when someone had just flushed.

Proper switch operation of Extractor Fan in Bathroom

A timer-moderated pressure switch on the seat would be better. Apart from April & June (more-or-less), not all events preceding a flush would require extraction.

Advice please regarding toilet leak and damp

Due diligence should take place by any building professional before boxing in anything against an outside wall, especially an external bathroom wall. Condensation, mould & slime can form in airless compartments against outside walls eg. window seats and wall panelling. Its only a possibility...

    Condensation from toilet

Things are not always what they seem! I had this problem only to find that it was not condensation - it was a leak, and was easily solved. Though the original post is very old, people will still google the problem, so I'm posting what I did. 5-minute, easy temporary solution: - Place...

What methods are available to power an aquarium heater?

Hello. In posting this question, I am revealing my ignorance, but I found that trying to find the answer on the Web produced only more confusion, so to be able to ask a simple question and get a straight answer is worth seeming to be an ignoramus. I am trying to cure a lavatory cistern that...

Heating question - major flood after service, what’s gone wrong here?

I am not disputing any of the advice given on here. Thanks to all who have replied and as I said, I’ll get my son to get the system layout/installation checked.

    Frozen condensate pipe....

Trace heating is one solution, but what are the running costs of the heater? Would it be more or less than the saving made by running a condensing boiler in the first place? The problem is the incontinent trickle of condensate produced all the time the boiler is running. once that starts to...

    Leaking toilet

Sounds like it was leaking through the valve hole then. I always put a bit of sealant around the hole before the valve goes in and a bit more on the underside of the cistern around the top of the thread so that when the back nut is tightened it makes a good seal inside and out.

    Condensate

If the overflow for the flush is internal ie water goes into the pan rather than through the wall, pipe the condensate straight into the toilet cistern at the top. Then you can drop the level of the toilet fill and let the condensate top it up. If it overflows into the toilet, no problem.

Anyone recognise this dual flush unit?

Not sure if this will help you. If no markings on the old syphon with brand markings ect then just replace the lot if you can get one to fit. Some fittings are from unknown manufacturers supplied with toilet. Just added insulation to inside of our cistern to stop condensation and replaced both...
