    Ours cistern does the very same, especially after we've used the bath or shower. We dry the condensation off the cistern, as part of drying the bath/shower, tiles. Roughcaster.

    Does the toilet cistern come straight off the mains,? its winter time, water in the pipe underground is cold goes into a china cistern air in Bathroom which is warm and moist so inevitably you will get condensation on the cistern, Wipe it off with a sponge.

    I think it is probably a leak. I would suspect the rubber doughnut between cistern and pan. Might be the connection to the float valve, especially if it is on the bottom of the cistern, or it might possibly be a leaking overflow if the water level is set too high or the val;ve is dripping...

    How do you know this? I've had similar symptoms from condensation or from connection to bottom of cistern not being quite tight enough.

    It's a bit of a bodge job ,but if it's watertight leave well alone. If the cistern is dripping condensation it needs insulating.
