Windows and doors boiling hot on inside pane of glass

Apologies for the late reply all... The tinting is on the inside, which from reading online seems to be pretty standard. But I can udnerstand why it should be on the outside; is this part of my problem?! I think a multi-pronged approach is probably needed but outdoor blinds/awning is tricky...

Windows and doors boiling hot on inside pane of glass

Thanks - I was worried the tinting was in some way making it worse but that simple explanation makes sense. I’m definitely going to have to pull the trigger on some external shade cloth style blinds, just need to work out how that would work over a swinging door with space limitations, but there...

Windows and doors boiling hot on inside pane of glass

Hi all - Got a garden office with standard double glazed upvc. It gets the setting sun and I'm trying to cool the thing down by finding out the hottest parts of the building. There is a medium(ish) tinting on the inside of the windows and french doors, and I can feel the heat coming through them...

Dimmer switches for 12v low amp spots

It was my understanding that would affect current, which in turn would effect required cable size. I only have 1.5mm cable.

Dimmer switches for 12v low amp spots

Thanks - I have an inverter already, but following other guides, it seems desirable to stick to 12v to limit draw. I've also already run the wires so I'm guessing my gauge won't be enough; will do some digging.

Dimmer switches for 12v low amp spots

Hi all - I am currently converting a campervan and have a range of 12v lights, all between 2 and 4 watts each. I had planned to use 2 x 3 gang 2 way dimmers to control these, with an example below. I wanted something you'd typically have in a home with physical knobs, but as is shown in the...

Treated vs untreated wood for outdoor dining set

Hi all - I am planning to build an outdoor table set; I have the powder coated pre-made legs and planned to just buy the boards to fit to it for a simple table and bench seat setup. I'll be getting pine from my favourite local timber merchants to keep costs down, but am not sure weather to use...

Powder coating for external table legs

Hi all - I am planning to build a dining table and chair set using my own wooden tops and pre-purchased legs. I’m opting for black powder coated metal legs but some listings say external use and others don’t. It’s my understanding that powder coating is a weatherproof barrier so is it just a...

What is this number on my boiler LCD?

Hi everyone - I've got a Worcester 37cdi boiler that has separate central heating and hot water temp controls but only one LCD. Does anyone know which temperature this number indicates? I can turn the dials to try to see what it affects but the number change so slowly it's hard to gauge any...

Heating 101 q: Will TRV’s adjust for second heat source?

Hi all - this is probably a stupid question but… i have a property with a standard combi central heating setup with no zoning and trv’s on rads. I also have a wood burner downstairs - now if I light the burner should I be worrying about turning off trv’s downstairs so I don’t waste gas...

Hardener and paint with handheld sprayer

Hi all - im looking to spray some kitchen cabinet doors with a durable paint finish as will be in my van conversion. Does anyone know if any of the small handheld electric paint sprayers like the Wagners can spray a paint & hardener mix you’d normally use a compressor setup for?

Bending wood for rocking horse restoration

Thanks so much, that settles it. I've got a jigsaw and router so that's not a problem. I've got some ply here, but its not birch, so will practice on some off cuts I have and then will go get some birch ply (once i remortgage the house haha!) Timber merchant near me does have some thick sheets...

Bending wood for rocking horse restoration

Thanks so much @JobAndKnock for the detailed replies and sorry for my late replies. Also, cant believe the price of birch plywood at the moment! If it were up to you, would you go with your bending idea or the stacking idea? I'm torn between both methods, thanks!

Bending wood for rocking horse restoration

Thanks so much for the detailed reply @JobAndKnock I appreciate it. Although a shame that I can't bend the existing piece it's good to know I can rule it out. One downside of the ply route is having the laminations visible, but if I need to I can. One left field idea is that I have some left...

Bending wood for rocking horse restoration

Thanks for the reply everyone and apologies for just getting back, getting used to life with a newborn! Hmm I did attach the images but obviously something didn’t work. Please find them attached again - it’s the rail for the back support, the rockers themselves are attached and fine but the rail...

Bending wood for rocking horse restoration

Hi everyone - I’m planning to restore this old rocking horse for my little girl and realising that re-bending this back rail might be trickier than expected. Any tips from anyone would be appreciated. I don’t know what kind of wood it is and haven’t bent wood before. Doing some research, most...

Ozito tools - are they Einhill?

Cheers thanks. Yeah there’s some interesting strip down comparisons between the brands; definitely not the same products but not far off on quality. Have an impact driver that has been great but the battery hasn’t and no parts so I’d personally lean towards einhill.

Ozito tools - are they Einhill?

Thanks all - bit of a late reply but just to confirm that ozito is identical to einhill. however ozito is half the price and 5 year warranty not 2 so I’ll be getting my aus family to stock me up when they come visit.
