    Rafter hanger positioning

Haha, yeah I thought after I've seen smaller at the zoo. We have a couple of house cats, one of which is a Maine Coon (if you Google 'Maine coon adult size' you may be surprised!) The idea is to give them somewhere to run around, have things to do (next phase of the build), and basically not...

    Rafter hanger positioning

Job's done, thanks everyone for input. I ended up using a couple of heavy duty corner brackets for the end rafters with some twist nails plus a nail from the other side, along with the hangers I posted previously (also sheradised nails) for all but the end rafters. It would've been a lot...

    Rafter hanger positioning

Am I right in thinking this is only a consideration for the end rafters if using corner brackets? All but the end ones are going to be installed using what's shown in the screenshot... Edit: and using 30x3.75 twist nails

    Rafter hanger positioning

Thank you... And is this with the same truss clips inset from the side or should I be aiming to have the end rafters flush? If flush then angle brackets and toe nailing?

    Rafter hanger positioning

Right so I've just been reading a bit more and for end rafters, some article has stated to just use an angle connector (pasted below). I'm not using bird mouths to be fair but butting up against the wall plate. Truss clips for all but the end end rafters, angle bracket and a couple of toe...

    Rafter hanger positioning

Thank you. And I should not get hung up on it being flush I'm assuming then?

    Rafter hanger positioning

No apology needed noseall I appreciate all the help I can get! Maybe I've not articulated my particular project well enough. Ultimately, it's a lean-to roof where I want my rafters to tie the front of my enclosure to a 2x4 long beam that's attached to multiple posts. I'm just curious what...

    Rafter hanger positioning

I did not know that. I've watched a few videos where they have flush rafters then stick some noggins into any other part of the frame -- not required then? I like that idea jono. I did have a look earlier as I hadn't heard of those. I couldn't see anything for my size requirements specifically...

    Rafter hanger positioning

I did wonder but I'm only using 63x38mm rafters and wondered if I'd have enough room to get the right amount of nails in. Also, I don't want to make a pig's ear of it. Having said that, surely two ~2.5" nails from opposite sides, 1 top, 1 bottom would be enough actually?

    Rafter hanger positioning

Hi all I'm building an animal enclosure and have reached the point of sorting the roof out. I'm now curious what the approach is with fixing the rafters. I'm fitting the rafters using some hangers. My question is, the first rafter can't be flush with the side of the frame because of the hanger...
