The controller? Quite likely. But if so they've been unavailable for 8 years. I've ordered a s/h switch.

OK. I have a good 250V at the fat brown wire. It's getting dark now. I'll mull over whether I can find the power downstream of the switch to check if the switch is the problem, or whether to simply buy a switch and go from there.

Good question, fuse was ok but I fitted new one anyway. Removed front panel. Now going to test with multimeter whether I have mains in. Just googling to see if I can ID the right wires from the jumble. Otherwise I'll start with brown I guess.
