Should have added that the hob is an induction hob so, from what I've read here diversity doesn't apply to them?

Sounds good, be a bit of a bind but I will take it out from under the insulation.

I know it's a bit of a long shot but can anyone tell what rating the cable on the left might be? The cable on the right is modern 2.5mm t&e. I should say there are no markings on the cable at all. http://s1157.photobucket.com/user/normanbrooks1950/library/ Each conductor is made up of 7...

Maybe top and bottom, grill separately, still the manual doesn't really add up.

I'm trying to find out the total and even without the fan it comes to 3450w, not 2500w. It also says Minimum fuse needed: 13A.

Is there something wrong with my maths? Top heating element 800 W Bottom heating element 1000 W Grill 1650 W Fan 2000 W Total rating 2500 W Voltage 240 V Frequency 50 Hz I thought that lot added up to 5450w, I know they won't all be on at once but still the total is way off.

    Shed

That ....JB on ring ------ 13A FCU ------ socket ------- 3A FCU ------ Lights Was my intention to a T, but then I saw the combined unit rcd/fcu for an extra fiver and thought what the hell, always been a bit of a belt and braces sort.

Ok got that use a switched fcu instead of an ordinary light switch and use a3amp fuse in it and yes I understood to use what I said in the feed to the shed namely the weatherproof rcd fcu. Think I'm sorted now, thanks again.

Ok so a 30amp junction box in loft, rubber sheathed 2.5mm cable out to under eaves down wall to this( http://www.screwfix.com/p/bg-13a-switched-weatherproof-rcd-fcu/20523) mounted at about 2.5m from ground. 2.5mm rubber sheathed cable back up wall to as high as possible then across to shed...

    Shed

Yes the shed is wood and waterproof. An FCU in the loft would require to get ladders out, lift the hatch cover and get down to the far end of the loft on somewhat shaky planks laid over the joists. So would prefer to have it in the shed, as I said the run is only just over 3 metres so not a...

    Shed

OK rubber sheathed 2.5mm cable it is, it will still have to come out of the loft. So where best to put the fcu? There would have to be a socket in there but as I said my daughter isn't likely to be using power tools. I have today removed the feed to this shed, you'll love this. It went from the...

    Shed

Just seen a quote from the 17th edition "PVC insulated cable supported on catenary wire- height above pathway:3.5m min. height above driveway: 5.8m min. span: unlimited. " So I think that answers that one, I'll need to lift it at the house end as well.

    Shed

So an FCU in the shed itself would be ok? In the house it would have to be in the loft, which isn't very practical. Sorry just seen you said at the house end. As it's a very short run overall probably less than 3.5 metres, I was thinking of standard 2.5mm t+e, and maybe run it some plastic...

I understood the height to be 2.5 or 3.5 if vehicles may go under. The ring has rcd protection would this not be enough?

    Shed

Hi All Looking for a bit of advice. Daughter has just moved into a bungalow, the place is split into 2 rings covering 4 rooms apiece. There is a shed she would like power to. The shed is just over 1.3 meters from the house, it's roof apex is 230 cm high and the house facia is 260 high. She...
