Water tank in loft - needs reinforcing?

Hi all I was topping up the insulation in the loft over the weekend, and noticed this shelf holding up the water tank. It all feels bone dry and not damp, so unsure if previous repairs had been done (we purchased and moved in earlier this year). It does look dark, which makes me think it's...

Water collecting during lots of rain

Great spot - thanks very much. We have some scalpings to top up potholes, so I'll have a go at crowning the road.

Water collecting during lots of rain

That's a good idea - to at least move the puddles to the sides of the road. We don't have any gutters / drains at the side of the road.

Water collecting during lots of rain

Thanks, although not really possible to divert it anywhere else as it would just be the same problem. Like I said not an issue other than a big puddle, so will just leave it as it is for now unless it gets significantly worse.

Water collecting during lots of rain

Hi all During periods of rain, I know we've had a lot in the last few days, but this problem I have seems to happen even during shorter periods of rain. Wondering if there is anything I can do myself to fix it? I live on an unmaintained road, so the residents of the road fill potholes, trim...

    External metal backbox sizes

Hi all Almost at the end of adding plug sockets and lights in my garage. However, the backboxes I bought from Screwfix don't cover the lightswitches/plug sockets fully. I assume these are not safe to use as they are and I haven't connected anything to mains yet. I've tried googling and...

Adding sockets and lights in my garage - wiring sense check please

Hi all, I'm going to amend some of the wiring in my garage to add 2x double sockets (1 w/ USB), and also add some LED two-way lighting. The power is on its own ring from the CU (20A RCD). However, the power comes in to a fused double light switch, and wanted to check my plan is safe/in regs...
