Concrete floor resting on timber joists??

Yeah, that’s what I meant. A two dwelling building, shared freehold.

    Greenland Vs NATO

I don’t get the “NATO would dissolve” . Trump alone cannot leave NATO. The US does not run NATO. The head of NATO has always been European. The rest of NATO has more soldiers than the USA. If Congress was to leave NATO, the rest would continue as is. It isn’t a European organisation, just...

Sloped roof or no slop, that is the question

I have a flat roof as well. Never actually put a level on it. Are you sure that when it was built they didn’t put firings on it?

Black waste bin lid collecting water

I would drill a hole but I’d have to drill another in the base. I only have one spare hole left. Weirdly, the “Brown bins” for garden waste are the other way.

Black waste bin lid collecting water

I do tend to remember, but just my luck to shove the last bag in one bin day and manage to drench my front. There’s about a pint on a bad day!

Concrete floor resting on timber joists??

Can’t they own the freehold as well? As in own the building shared?

Black waste bin lid collecting water

My black waste bin collects water on top of it’s lid - so when wheel it to the kerb on bin day after a shower, you tip the water all over your front Probably due to a detail to help increasing its strength, the centre front of the lid is lower and catches rain. I had the idea of heating the...

    Fence posts

I know that some people hate them but I use concrete fence posts and concrete gravel boards. If possible, the boards are 6” buried and 6” out.

    Support for lights

Are these LED par cans? What do the lights look like? You you want something like the picture already posted? Is the 7 m the width at light height? At what height? What width is the floor? You could use scaff tube (alli) horizontally. If supported only at the ends you’ll get deflection on a 6m...

    Amp speaker connection problem

Dry joints usually look a little dull compared to others. Cleaning the connectors doesn’t hurt. Chopping an inch of the speaker cables and resending up the contacts won’t be a bad idea

A really very silly question - if I may please ?

Birds have pretty strong guts, but will poo in a birdbath/bowl because in nature, there’s more water around. You’re supposed to clean a bird bowl /bath daily. All you really need is a full watering can nearby and a better clean weekly. Although birds tend to poo almost without thought, as a kid...

ICE told to get the eff out

It is an interesting twist, but the locals have found an interesting way of ****ing off ICE. They are throwing buckets of water onto the pavements/ roads and ICE are going base over apex trying to catch them.

A really very silly question - if I may please ?

If you want to carry on using it for sentimental reasons, take the bowl to a kitchenware shop and find a plastic bowl that fits inside. It doesn’t matter about height, diameter is then important thing. Slightly loose to allow for ice expansion. If too tall you could trim the top down. Glue the...

Oil or gas for 51 square meter bungalow with two bedrooms?

I would have thought that gas would always be cheaper than oil? Don’t know if you live in the sticks but oil can be stolen,

Im nervous please reassure me about my 1860s roof beams survey

I’d hesitate to say “no” but if it was me I’d do it within a year? Maybe get a roofer in? If the tiles have to come off, summer is a good time.

Im nervous please reassure me about my 1860s roof beams survey

My brother had this. Concrete tiles replacing the lighter slate. They had internal bracing done - not sure if they had the tiles taken off and refitted? It is a common issue.

Roof repair new tiles are slightly chipped on bottom corner

I am no roofer but that wouldn’t worry me. If I was fitting that and spotted it, I’d maybe put it aside but there may be loads done by the time it was spotted? Changing one can be tricky
