    Hide a gas pipe

I have. My friend is corgi registered, but he said that he can't recommend putting it behind skirting as someone could come along after i move out and puncture it by mistake. He said that he prefers that i hide it instead...how, he doesn't know.

    Hide a gas pipe

hi guys, i'm currently doing up my living room. I've made the mistake of getting some very nice plaster mould coving professionally installed, but i forgot to move the gas pipe (which provides upstairs gas heating) into a corner. Now the issue is that it looks very ugly and i can't remove...

    More Problems....DAMP WINDOW WALL!

hi guys, i just want to thank and update you regarding this problem. I've bought a very cheap dehumidifier and it seems like the humidity has began to drop. Also the marks on the wall have dried up, although they do come back as soon as the humidity level goes up due to cooking. At least...

    More Problems....DAMP WINDOW WALL!

Thank you very much for your advice guys. Stuart has hit the nail on the head - the building has exterior stone walls, with brick wall inside and the gap filled with rubble and chippings. I've been busy and taken off that stupid joist which was rotten. I've then taken out a lot of old...

hi guys, i'm about to get a nice looking marble fire surround, with back plate and hearth. The only problem is, the backplate does not have a cutout to put in the flue of a normal heater or an insert. Is it possible to cut out a large piece of marble backplate or get it cut professionally...

The render/pointing is almost flush, however the joist is not flush. It comes out by approx 0.5cm, so there is a gap behind it.

    More Problems....DAMP WINDOW WALL!

Yes mate, that is an external wall which takes a lot of hit from the rain. To be honest, I've not had any work done to this wall/window due to financial issues. The previous owner has screwed the place and i'm now left with the headaches. He bolted in a massive 2x3 joist next to the window...

    More Problems....DAMP WINDOW WALL!

thanks r896 for your reply. This is a victorian terraced stone built property. I must add that i did have this problem just after the damp course was put in...when i informed the damp company they told me that its most likely condensation or dirty plaster. I removed and replastered (left...

Urgently need a large mitre box

Nah mate, i understand exactly what to do, but its just that i've never attempted to fit a coving ever before, so i want to see how the installers fit it, so in future it's easier for me.

Urgently need a large mitre box

i think your right nick. I've never done coving before, so i don't think its worth saving a few bob and messing up. I've called some guys to do the job, i.e £300 which includes materials and fitting. I'll try to watch and learn from them just incase i plan to do it myself in future.
