Hi I have a flat roof currently on a small rear extention which now needs replacing. We are thinking to go with a pitched tiled roof because there's plenty height available for it. Question is should leave the existing felt and ply board on there and will this this be ok or should we rip it...

    Loft conversion RSJ question

Thanks Freddie. Is this normal practice would you say or will it cause me any restrictions by using this method? I already have internal stairs going onto the loft and was planning to tackle the project like this, 1, install the rsj at the front and strength the rafters by bolting the...

    Loft conversion RSJ question

Hi For a loft conversion with a dormer I'm contemplating to start soon, wondering if the following would be possible. I will need to install two RSJ'S, one in the front just above the existing joist and one rear and one at the ridge. They span approximately 6.5 meters in the length and will...

    Silicone instead of screws

I'll be sticking to tiles porcelain glazed. I would have put a couple holes through and screwed them the baton in, but it's very difficult to drill through

    Silicone instead of screws

Hi Instead of screwing a baton (porcelain tiles) will silicon be strong enough? Making a bath panel frame and the bottom baton will prove a bit difficult. The two on the side will be screw in and the top one will be screwed into the side ones. Will that be strong enough?

    Toilet fitting query

Hi Can I use this to connecting the vertical flexi pan connecter coming through the floor? Is it as simple as connecting this to the pan horizontally then pushing it to the flexi or do I need some 110mm pipe connected to the end of this connector and then pushed into flexible pan connecter...

    Toilet fitting query

Thanks again Frank. My toilet cistern sits on the pan. So when cistern is right against the wall the pan needs to be too. I'm not sure if that could be altered? The problem I found with the rigid pan connecter was that I couldn't push the toilet tight back because because of the joist you see...

    Toilet fitting query

Hi Thanks all. I've attached some pictures. I think I may be ok. Thinking of pushing the flexi right back against the wall and tiling around as close as possible. And then try silicone to try and get a good seal. I doubt I would be able to pull the flexi to extend out to the pan outlet. So...

Small tiles piece at door entry

Hi Vinn Thanks for your reply. Yes I do hope to fit a threshold between the hallway and bathroom door. And can confirm the tiles are now fitted but am slightly unsure if the small piece right by the door (which I have not yet fitting) will be a issue in terms of staying secure. This is...

    Floor Tiling Question

Hi I'm setting out the tiles and have a question regarding a small pieces just by the door. Will it be ok to tile this in with a narrow cut just by the door entry or should I pull all the tiles in and make a cut in a full piece and cut the others along the wall down too?
