Lighting (first fix) T&E to flex / outlet plate

It's not really a protector - just a guide and/or a holder. Agreed, the only protection you might have using capping whether metal or plastic before plastering is from the plasterer`s trowel or a slight protection from accidental damage by others. I usually took care of my own plastering but if...

    Two-pin plug anyone (shaver style)

Electric Toothbrush, I have never had an Electric Razor (do not like them) therefore no bathroom shaver socket. I cut the cord off the toothbrush charger flex and fitted a 13A plug, I charge the toothbrush in the bedroom - it is not any hardship to me.

    Controlling multiple electric heaters centrally

Well I think you have had some very good takes on here judging by all of the comments. My first thought is how to live in it as is or do you want to rent it out? It could be a one or the other rather than an and/or decision as overlaps are likely to be rare as best in both instances. If...

Fixing TT earthing problems and gas bonding for an EV charger

Yes John, we are pretty much it total agreement with this(my post was in support) as indded we are on pretty much all things I reckon :giggle:

    Lighting Circuit

Dont forget Fanlights in bedrooms etc - some have two SW Lines (one for lighting and one for Fan) some just have one for both and them again some of those have one connection in the fanlight that can be easy to split, so your post has these merits too :giggle:

    Lighting Circuit

What about allowing for both - At every (first) switch instead of running say T&E as the feed and return then run a three core and earth instead, this allows you the extra core to take the N from the rose to that switch or alternatively from that switch to the rose. I nearly always ran Loop in...

Fixing TT earthing problems and gas bonding for an EV charger

Well I can agree with "Almost Never" but I would never say "Never" - that chap who said to me "An Earth is an earth is an earth" and I replied no it is not, equalising earths is important and the more we equalise our earths in the location we are using then the "safer" we might be, whatever...

Fuse box and Washer in same room

To be a bit "Nit Picky" any base in front of a consumer unit on the back wall effectively impedes the reach of the CU a little bit but unless that mounting height is near to the extent of a ready reach then that difference might, in reality, only be a trifle amount and not worth worrying about...

Both rcd,s tripping with faulty light switch

Eric has a very good point there. The "Borrowed N" Scenario always was a potential for hazard and the Advent of seperate RCDs has, to some extent (Unless all RCBOs in which case best ever) has often been largely undetected - different circuits on different RCDs have a far better chance of...

Both rcd,s tripping with faulty light switch

Agreed - The Borrowed Neutral can potentially be dangerous , as in not only Electric Shock risk but also Electrocution risk (Electrical Execution)

Constant trickle fans -Fan isolators or fused spur?

That is why I put both words in quotes - might be viewed as such by an ordinary person when a need to switch off quick seems important but not what others (we) might mean. Yes I should have reworded it.

Constant trickle fans -Fan isolators or fused spur?

I am not keen on any isolator being "Hidden" That is just one reason that I do not like accessories in cupboards too. In an "Emergency" or an "Urgency" I prefer in easy sight but slightly out of normal reach to the point it is still fairly reachable if determined and able enough for folks...

Is it me (us or us)?

I suspect it might be one of those cases where aesthetics wins over practicality (unfortunately, in this case), a big mistake?

Yes indeed - but there again does the current lot of world leaders local leaders encourage us to more greatly or to lessers our opinions on both of those statements?

Fuse box and Washer in same room

Not aving the latest OSG or BS7671 I can only comment that a 300mm "Rule of Thumb" was advised for some distances, i.i. a starting point for refence such as for a socket out etc in proximity to a sink etc. Obviously in a lot of kitchens it would be practically impossible/quite difficult in...
